CEJ4 on a plateau with FSGenesis?(pic)

Featured Replies

First of all, does everyone who has FSG get this same issue? Runways are raised.jb0fwmpkXHZaC3.jpgIf so, is there a fix for this besides disabling FSG?

I have FSGen installed and don't see those problems in general, but if you can tell me which airfield that is I can doublecheck.

Update:

Ooops just saw it is in the title, checking now (my wife always says my powers of observation are nonexistant)

No problems with that field on my system:

My guess is you may have some other add-on scenery conflicting with it? Otherwise make sure your "Mesh Resolution" slider is set to "5m" I've seen some other weird mesh stuff in the past when that was not set to 5m.

It was at 1m and I just tried it with 5m, slightly better but still all runways are way up on plateaus. I only have UTX and CEJ4. Perhaps one has to own/use Orbx PNW for this airport to be proper?

KHQM has the same issue but not as bad.

Ah my guess is maybe your UTX entries in scenery library are above the Orbx ones? You may want to confirm that Orbx stuff is above the UTX entries or try disabling UTX and see if the problem goes away.

Well I disabled UTX and unchecked tons of other stuff. Still no change. Tried new build of fsx.cfg, still no change. Grrrrr. This is starting to tick me off.

Perhaps one has to own/use Orbx PNW for this airport to be proper?

That is typically the case with Orbx's other region-specific airports (the larger region as a whole needs to be installed too), so I would suspect, even though it is freeware, that to be the case with Claresholm too. Rusty

I don't have FSGenesis installed for that area but I had that same issue with that airport.. Update your libraries they are out of date.

I do not have any of the Orbx 'land', just some of their free airports.

Heh, updated the libraries and I now have trees near the runway on the plateau. .005 I obviously can't install.

So kludger, if you disable all your Orbx land sceneries, does CEJ4 plateau for you? Might be an easy way to an answer if the airport does indeed require Orbx surrounding 'lands'.

Ahh, ok didn't know you didn't have PNW.. That makes more sense now..

Sorry VeryBumpy I have so many Orbx sceneries (all of NA and some AU and NZ) that it will take a lot of pain to disable all of them except CEJ4 via that FSX UI and I am afraid to mess up my scenery.cfg messing with it manually.

But it is a well known issue I recall seeing on the FTX support forums that many of the "freeware" airports won't work well without the surrounding FSX region, so I am 99.9% sure that is your problem since I recall seeing similar situations on their support forums with other freeware airports (KHQM if I recall). I should have asked you about that to start with but I forgot about that.

CEJ4 is in the NRM region and yes, you need the region pack for the airports to show properly.

Ok, thanks for the help everyone.

Orbx normally being such a quality product, I'm surprised they allow their free products to be with issues like this and not state them in a readme or anything. I'm sorry but I find this type of marketing in bad taste. Either do it proper or not at all.

kludger, no worries. I too would be reluctant to mess up a quality running install of FSX loaded with addons. Thanks again.

I thought it was made clear by Orbx that the freeware airports needed the region pack to show properly?

My understanding of this has always been this way.

If you look in the Orbx forums it is mentioned several times.

No it has not. Please link me on their site where I may have missed it?

I certainly would not expect an average customer to read their forums for this. As I stated, I feel in the very least it should be up front in a readme file or something.

I'm sorry but I find this type of marketing in bad taste. Either do it proper or not at all.

IMHO, that's a bit over the top. Orbx freeware airports were always meant to work best with their region packs.
