Now if they would implement Steam Workshop, then user DLC/mods could be made available...

Really, not sure that would make a lot of sense, unless they are thinking it would give them far greater coverage sooner of a customer base than just going through GFWL... Steam does already have a pretty large customer base I guess - I have IL2 Cliffs of Dover which runs through Steam.

This is certainly interesting.

My guess is due to the user base STEAM has.

I have a bunch of games from Steam and there are quite a few other sims on there.

Deffinately interesting.

This is certainly interesting.

but from what I know that means that they get a competitor on board? I mean, isn't Steam the equivalent to Live? but interesting for sure...

Just flew a job out of Hilo, about an hour of flight time.

Not sure I am seeing any graphical differences, although I myself may not be quite perceptive enough to notice with my aging eyes.

In the graphics option menu, I have all the same options that were there prior to the update, and am running max on everything except the last two options, which do not have a max setting.

The biggest difference I have seen so far:

The Flight program itself seemingly loads much faster for me.

The controller sensitivity on joystick setup is much smoother ( and the standard.xml defaulted back to original settings, prior to any tweaks I had made to it).

With the controller being as smooth as it is now by default, I probably will not be tweaking the standard.xml file again like I had it.

It " reset" my controllers, so I had to go in and change back to custom mapping that I had before. (However it did tell me my controller config was out of date, and do I wish to accept the new one? I clicked yes on this question.)

The " Redeem Code" option added to the main menu.

Hopefully there are some bug fixes as well - I know I got an award as soon as I launched Flight, that I had earned previous but did not get due to one of the bugs.

This is good, at least something new in the horizon. Maybe in some months Flight be a more finished game.

I dont think the MS you put fly in Steam and pay for that, when they have Live network, Xbox Arcade will be native in Windows 8 and they have a MS Store in Windows 8, why pay for others to sell their games?

ok, time to go home, install that update and see whether the game runs more stable now on my rig, too many CTDs and corrupted installations in the past... wish me luck

Best of luck Phil, if it is a problem/bug in the Flight program, hopefully it has been addressed and is much better for you!

Please! The clouds looks horrible in Flight!!! :D

You'll have to run the game to see the difference.

The fair weather clouds are still a spilled bag of cotton balls, but at least they don't line up in rows now. Not great, but much better.

Looks like a few new options in the standard.xml controls file. Nonlinear axis settings for ailerons, elevator and rudder, for example. Repeat 100.00 instead of 32.00 in some places. Still looking and trying to get my controls back to where I prefer them.

Even without changing any of the graphics options, panning is now quite jerky, where before it was very smooth.

If you discover a control in the file mapped to "ctrl-tilde" I suggest not being too hasty to try it. I discovered a new type of BSOD. If you try it anyway and find it does something useful, let us know.

Oh... and be sure to exit the game after you set up your controls, because if the game crashes the changes don't get saved.

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Funny how people start seeing 'improvements' after an undocumented update... Things probably are the same but you simply pay more attention. I always had that after building a new system and installing FSX. I always had the idea things ran worse, while I simply had gotten used to how things performed with blurries and all...

Some of us are seeing actual changes. The joystick response has definitely changed, and probably gone too far in the smoothing direction. I haven't checked out any possible graphics differences yet.

Joystick is now much smoother. Some keybindings changed, 2 or 3 new bindings as option.

Can`t see any other changes.

Ok I loaded up a Free Flight and flew over Honolulu.

This may very well be more perception versus reality - it kind of does appear that " maybe" there are more objects now - I can not really say for sure as I probably did not look that closely prior to the update in my flying, just seems like some areas maybe are more filled in... hard to say really.
