April 9, 201214 yr Hi all, I have tried 7 different flights in FSX over the past 3 days and every one of them ended in FSX having a fatal error. It is driving me crazy! There is nothing in the error log, my RAM usage remains within 2GB. It is getting really annoying. Does anyne have suggestions? Aaron G. PMDG Boeing 737NGX Captain
April 9, 201214 yr Because it's an old codebase which is completely not designed for modern multi-core hardware and lots of RAM being pushed to do things the designers never intended it to do. That said, if every single flight of yours resulted in a program crash, something really isn't right with your setup. Do you have any tweaks in your fsx.cfg? April 9, 201214 yr I gave up on running FSX in full screen mode due to stability issues (namely the hall of mirrors or "Moirre" effect which may or may not be recoverable from). Life is much much better running FSX in a Windowed mode (the opposite of Full Screen, 1920x1200x32 for example). All stability issues are a thing of the past. Multitasking in other 3rd party add on windows (catalyst for the stability issues in the first place) is seamless and flawless now. I'm finally at peace. April 9, 201214 yr Delete the cfg and let it build a new one. Does it still crash without the tweaks? April 9, 201214 yr ever since i put that file "uiautomationcore.dll" in my fsx root directory, all my crashes stopped. The past 4 days i have been flying non-stop in full screen mode clicking menus like a madman with all my many add-ons. This file cured my errors in fsx. :good:

Would it have anything to do with having VFR GenX, although my RAM usuage with it is 2GB although. Aaron G. PMDG Boeing 737NGX Captain
April 9, 201214 yr Could you please try to increase the fsx.exe process priority to "above normal" and check if it runs more stable? It is just a hint I had a few days ago when I was having constant CTDs which suddenly stopped. They may have stopped after I enabled the utility that manages the running processes (which gives FSX.EXE "above normal" priority, among others).

April 9, 201214 yr So. What is this "fatal error." I run FSX on a dedicated computer and it is extremely stable! ArDee
April 9, 201214 yr Fatal errors in FSX are something I never ever suffer now (apart from 1 when I recently loaded the Black Box Simulations 737-200 for the first time!), but I have had periods in the past, where I have been plagued with them. It's always been down to an add-on or tweak but finding the culprit can be hard, and often a full uninstall of FSX (verified in the registry), followed by a full re-install can be the only way back to stability. April 9, 201214 yr FSX isn't unstable by design. Can you check that windows event log again. This would at least point in some direction when it comes to the setup and/or addons involved.
