GA-Traffic General Aviation traffic generator released

Featured Replies

Hi Edam,I guess that GA-Traffic didn't find youre FS9 installation directory.Try to make a 'GATraffic.ini' with the following section in it:[Path]TTools=C:GA-TrafficBinFS2004=xxxxxWhere xxxxx must be the path of your FS9 installtion. Please post if this work, so I could add this to the readme.

MarkusThank you for what looks like a fine freeware program.I have installed no problem on my test rig at my office but one question:When I try to turn some of my library into "AI texture friendly" aircraft it warns me that it is changing the original aircraft texture as well (not good!). Is it possible to generate frame-rate friendly aircraft without changing the original aircraft folder or will I have to copy each aircraft folder to protect the original?EDIT: It says in the manual that it doesn't change the original aircraft textures - can you confirm this is the case?ThanksAdamwww.hhuk.netJAR PPL (A)P4 2.54GHz 1GB 833RAMHiTech Radeon 9800 Pro IceQFS2004 UK VFR MeshUK VFR Scenery 1/2/3/4

Hi Adam,GA-Traffic didn't change the ORGINAL textures. The warning you mean is only the standard warning for changing values of a plane, which effects all liveries. The warning is misunderstandable at this point and will be changed for the next version.GA-Traffic copy the orginal folder of the aircraft and then work only at the copied one!

MarkusThanks for the rapid response and clarification. I will install it tonight on my main PC at home. In an age when there are more and more overpriced payware addons for FS it is refreshing and uplifting to find someone like yourself producing such a useful program for free use by all the flightsim community.Thank you againAdam Moorewww.hhuk.netWin XP Pro - Dell Dimension 4500P4 2.54 GHz - 1GB RAMHightech Radeon 128MB 9800Pro IceQ19" CRT 1600x1200 @ 100hzAudiophile 24/96FS2004 + UK2000 1/2/3/4/5/6/EGLL PROUK VFR 1/2/3/4Ultimate VFR : RealAir SF-260Ultimate IFR : PMDG 737-700NGUltimate FUN : RealAir Decathlon

As it turns out, it was actually one of the planes that was causing the error. I noticed that the error would occur while trying to read one plane.I removed the plane's folder and everything is fine now. Thanks for the help.

There are military parking spaces. Mil_cargo and mil_combat. Check out AFCAD's aircraft editor. I think that one way you could cheat this is to develop a ref file that contains "military airfields by ICAO code. For instance, KCBM=Columbus AFB in USA. Im sure we can help compile this list amongst us. Would be nice to be able to target specific aircraft to specific airports...military being just one example. Others might be Lots of Cessna's at Whichita Kansas, which is where they are made.Eric

Hi Eric, the list could be a possibility, but I'm right that Ms didn't use the Mil parking spaces?Specify aircrafts to specific airports could be implemented, but I think most user didn't use it. My first plans for GA-Traffic included this option, but I didn't program it, because it would be more work and need more time. The goal of GA-Traffic was make GA traffic better than other tools can do and I think the goal is matched.

Guys,Downloaded this, looked it over and then clicked Collect Data as I have a few SimFlyers sceneries. It worked. I then clicked Generate Flightplan. That took a while and then generated a traffic bgl that's in the right spot. Two things:1. What does Month For Flight Generation mean? Will I need to be generating flightplans once a month every month????2. I'm not seeing traffic. I've gone to several small-to-mid fields in NJ (Cross Keys, Trenton Mercer, South Jersey Regional) and none have any traffic (actually SJR did but it was UT-created GA traffic).Where can I go to assure I'm seeing traffic from this? Clearly the BGL is the largest traffic BGL I have so it THINKS it generated something.

Hi,the 'Month For Flight Generation' means that GA-Traffic computes Sunrise and Sunset for every airport and GA traffic will be more during daytime and should be less or no in the night. If you whant realistic Sunrise times there is no way than generate at leas a new file every season. You could rename the older ones to something like Traffi-GA.summer_bgl. Only important it is that the ending of the file isn't 'bgl'.2. Switch your tower frequency to a GA airport and listen to the traffic. A good place to start should be KORS. If it contains smaller planes than UT use it works. If you fly around you should here many planes doing flights in the vicenty.

I echo all the good things said about GA-Traffic.I was behind a DC-3 doing some circuits when I noticed he was just stationery for about a minute then he dissapeared? Do you know why this would be?Regards,AL

Sorry, mistaken duplicate post deleted.

I must have run into GA-Traffic traffic today. I saw a DH-88 flying around which I'm fairly certain UT does not use.The oddity was that it was listed as flying KILG (where I saw it take off from) to 6PA0 which is Myer Field in northeast Pennsylvania. To be sure I followed him in slew mode for literally an hour. He finally got close to the field, turned hard left to get parallel with the runway, though left of it, descended, put down his gear then turned 180 degrees so now he was still parallel to the field but now it was on his left and then proceeded to fly exactly that way for 50 miles before I gave up. ????At least I saw the traffic! And thanks for the month explanations. I'm not that concerned with sunrise traffic but it makes sense to create seasonal BGL's, though it would be nice if there was an option for that as the system is VERY likely to be radically different when it comes time to build these. Much easier to just have the program do it. By the way, how does the FS9 Traffic slider affect GA-Traffic? I have mine set to 50% right now during some testing. Does that mean I'd get 50% of the 100% I have the slider set for in GA-Traffic?

Markus.... you have created a wonderful and amazing program! I love it! It works great with my system, which isn't all that powerful. I'm still working and adjusting things but it's great. It was kinda funny to go to Renton (KRTN) and see four T-33's lined up for takeoff... but a few tweaks here and there, it's looking good! You deserve every accolade and praise the sim community can dish out. Thanks!

Many Thanks from my end also!KAVP now actually has in & outbound traffic!Great work and a big THANK YOU for sharing this with the community!Jim
