If you now put your mouse in the area of the post, instead of a popup, you will see a little "down arrow" appear to your right. Click on that, and it will load excerpts of the first couple of message of the topic. Less intrusive than the pop up method and less intrusive.

I was wondering what had happened to the "topic preview thingy", when I came upon this thread.

I liked the preview option ,but as I see there is now an arrow down click option as a compromise to all ,I am a happy chappy and all is well.
