Personal record...

... smashing the Mustang! :LMAO: There, I'm sure a lot of people would like to do that.Just%20Kidding.gif And probably some of them will come into this thread trying to spoil my fun. So just to let you know, all the fun spoilers are on my Ignore list - I never see anything you write! :Loser:

Anyway, I did break the sound barrier, got the Mach 1 Award, the Achievement, and the jubilation of living through it and not having the wings torn off when I pulled out of the dive. :LMAO:

But, people are never happy, and I'm no different. This was my record: 734 kts.

Not bad, but I've become obsessed with beating it, particularly since I read some comments here of others who did better - looking for a green-with-envy smiley but couldn't find it in that enormous list. Big%20Grin.gif

So, set the Weather to Low and Threatening, because it's got good strong winds and ... they are from the right direction. Not all the weather themes have correct winds. Got the Mustang out of the hangar, and started climbing. And leaning. And leaning again. And again, and some more. Finally made it to 37 000 ft., got bored with climbing and decided to start the dive.

Pointed the nose straight down! It was pretty funny because I got the Private Pilot Award just as I was about to smash the airplane into the ground. :LMAO:

No pulling out of the dive this time!

Dug a hole in the ground, all you can see of the airplane is the tail.

So, what is my new personal record? 769 kts. Big%20Grin.gif

Just so the fun spoilers don't accuse me of being a 15-year old gamer, I also tried to do it in the Icon, RV, Maule, and Stearman:

Final tally:

- Icon = 217 kts.

- RV = 418 kts.

- Maule = 325 kts.

- Stearman = 182 kts.

I imagine top speed is limited by the air file so it will be tough to do much better. But, it was fun. And since I saved the flight when I got to 37 000 feet, I can always go back up to have fun smashing airplanes into the ground at top speed! :LMAO:

Best regards.

Luis

They should make a new category just for you named "Times Through Planet." :LMAO:

Mach 2 is easily achievable.

Nice Pictures Luis.

Your fastest forward speed is greater than mine, I only attained 692 kts, I shall keep trying.

Update Ok 749, getting closer but not there yet.

There's no "going up" involved in loading a hacked save-game file that starts you at 86,000'. Not much effort involved in "going down" for that matter, either, since you're not going to have a choice about it.

Luis, how does it feel to be a lawn dart?

I'm a 6'5" lawn dart, Frank! Big%20Grin.gif And believe it or not, I don't have a lot of crashes to my credit, only about 40. There are some real pros here who have hundreds of crashes in their Pilot Profile, and I am but an infant compared to them. :LMAO: I just need to try harder.

Best regards.

Don't worry, I have lots of crashes, too. I mean, I could start a new profile with the goal being to not have any crashes, but why bother?

Trying to beat my personal Wind Farm Challenge time has accounted probably 50 crashes. I’m down to ~48 seconds remaining.

Then comes again Ford Island to beat my own time, that will probably add some 50 or more crashes.

Cheers

I’m down to ~48 seconds remaining.

I think my best (so far) on that one is about 37 seconds remaining. I usually head straight down the right side when I start off, try to get all of those, then turn and pick off the one that's down in the little depression so I don't have to come back for it.

Hi Frank,

I use the Icon + joystick on those challenges.

According to some guys over at the beta site, it might be possible to finish with more than 1 minute to spare.

Many times I have tried using the RV-6A, it is quite difficult to steer and seems too fast to turn tight; anyway the only time I was about to finish with about 1:08 seconds left

I crashed on the last Red mark, so that one does not count. (Instead of watching the track, I was watching the stopwatch. Silly me)

I use different patterns for both the Icon and the RV-6A

Probably I should get the full Fraps to record these tracks at home, do you know of a better grabber?

:Hypnotized: :clapping: I'm not even close and have never finished any of these challenges with all points, much less with time left. Great work!

Best regards.
