I have been with this hobby since the start with SubLogic.Through all the years freeware addons have kept the hobby alive and ever more interesting all within the 'spirit' of fun and friendship.I bought two add ons. Dreamfleets 737 for 2002 which was wonderful, and PMDG's 737 for Fs9. I just could not get into the PMDG at all. For me it did nothing compared to the Dreamfllets graphics and control. So I paid my money and I get my right to comment favourably or not on what I have bought. However, I will NEVER attack a freware developer. I am in AWE of the ability, concentration and time these people spend. I may, suggest changes, or different things, but in the spirit of admiration for what they do.I am 'flying' with Matthieas's free BAe 146.Its amazing!Buggy a wee bit, but not insurmountable. He gets my vote for currently making a superb package that is free to anyone.PMDG charge, so must take the 'hits' of a commercial market.

First to A321 I did slam it, really I think the PMDG 737 is probably a great plane and as good as u would hope in FS2004 but I also so know that I can get that same complex aircraft probably half the price when DF releases there's. To L.Adamson you can say flying a real 150 is like playing a videogame but Flight sim does not even come close to real world flying for me. Maybe some people will never get to fly the heavy metal and this brings them close to it. I am thankful that developers are out there creating better addons so I can have some FUN in my spare time. PMDG,Dreamfleet,Flight1 and Eaglesoft are some of the best developers out there. This thread is to just express a opinion on the rising cost of our hobby. Some agree that it is getting costly and others think that they should cost more. Me I will just pick and choose the ones I want and sometimes chime in on threads like this. As long as the market will bare these prices then developers can charge what they want it ends up on the user to decide if it will hold that value to them. I just hope developers will keep in mind not everyone wants to put down 40-60.00 a plane.

I agree George. I have bought tons of add-ons, dreamfleet, PSS, flight, etc etc etc. PMDG is the only one Im still flying after a week or so.

Same here................but I still don't like 152's! :)I like real life mountain flight. The 152 just doesn't have enough get up & go to withstand high density altitude problems. I usually fly out of airports ranging from 4200 to over 7000' msl, let alone a warm day. I prefer something that will easily climb 1200-2500 fpm in most conditions. Can't stand being below tree level when only a few hundred feet away! :)L.Adamson

What a bunch of crap Sevenseas, do you have any IDEA how many BUGS PS1 has had??? You clearly do not know what the heck you are talking about. All this winded talk amounted to squat bud...[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. >> What a bunch of crap Sevenseas, do you have any IDEA how many>BUGS PS1 has had??? You clearly do not know what the heck you>are talking about.Where did I say that PS1 has had NO bugs. But none comparable to the PMDG 737-600/700 "original release" - bugs, of course. Some of them could be found at the very first flight after ten minutes...As you have been one of the "famous" beta-testers, I guess you should remain ESPECIALLY friendly, humble and quiet. A PMDG - supporter talking about " a bunch of crap" and customers "not knowing what they are talking about" rather hurts the reputation of PMDG, you know...I have been using PS1 since the very first release (still on disk then).

Well this post started out being a good discussion, but now it has degenerated into personal attacks and in general flaming. While flame wars are always good for a laugh, I know avsim will be locking this thread soon. One really should step back and ask themselves how old they are, and compare that to how old they act ;)

Sorry I do not take to being "told" by you how to "act". Your post about the 737 was nothing but trashing and based upon miss-information. PS1 as you well know cost many hundreds over the PMDG when it was first released and still costs much more, it should it is a CBT like traing simulator, not a fs add-on. Like I said it is a great product but like ANY program that is os complex there will always BE something more one can fix. That's the key isnt it? PMDG released patches to fix items that were missed etc. That's the true track record here. And I could care less who you are and what you think, if you come here talking trash you can expect me to be here cleaning it up period. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. You should go back to the kindergarten and learn how to behave well. There is really nothing more I would like to discuss with you.(You do not take being "told" how to "act" but still like to tell other people how they should act... Mr. Master-Cleaner! It would have been better you would have "cleaned" at least the most obvious bugs before the initial release!)

>>With seven postings to your credit..............and using the>word kindergarten, such as it was; credibility drops real>fast! Just an observation...No, not really - as German is my mother-tongue and "Kindergarten" is perfectly correct ;-)Besides, if you doubt what I have written about the PMDG 737-600/700 - bugs, all you have to do is go to the PMDG-forum and search for the bug-reports a few months ago or you simply read what PMDG themselves had to say when they released their updates for the 737-600/700 (I think they said they had corrected 75 bugs) or you read the German magazine "FlightXPress" which also wrote about the initial bugs (and did NOT recommend the PMDG 737 for that reason)! Of course, things may have changed in the meantime (all this happened several months ago), so all I said was that I would wait and see if the new version would be better (= waiting for impartial reports...)

>Randy, I do not work for any developer...and I am not a>cheapskate...>>I just think $62.90 is simply too much for one aircraft.>>>The PMDG B737-800/900 is an excellent aircraft even though it>on the edge of the pricing curve. (Please read my earlier>posts)>>>And please, no name calling... AA777-223 By reading your posts is looks like you have never owned a PMDG 737 so tell us how can you say its to expensive when you have not used it before?????????????? If you read the posts everyone that has the PMDG 737 keep saying how good it is and it sets the standard for Future Addons!! If your not happy with the price Go get some one elses product!! there are plenty out there that dont even come close to the PMDG standard! YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!Jason RichardsAustraliaprecisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg

I look at it as the fact that Its my hobby, i enjoy it, and it costs this much. I am lucky the hardware costs are low for me, so I guess it balances out. In the end it gives me countless hours of something I enjoy, on a per hour basis I am paying pennies, as is the case with the select set of Payware I own.-JonathanJonathan O'Connor

Hi all. Here is my 2 cents.1. This is a hobby!2. I have 2 alternatives: buy or not buy add-ons3. I buy good quality add-ons and love the freeware sceneries4. I already have some of disappointments: Flightsoft,PerfectFlight and others (my fault! I did'nt consult the comunity for an opinion!)5. I have plenty add-ons I enjoy: PSS, Feelthere (not the ERJ because it doesn't have a panel!), RFP, Simflyers, Flytampa, Lago, GAP, and others. So, I know a little bit (not too much) of what I'm talking about. My position:1. It seems everyone is forgetting that you are paying the 600/700 update too!!!! They were update! You know have TCAS on those! Only the TCAS I probably would pay $15 for it!2. The quality of the product is unquestionable!3. The quality of the support if far ahead from almost everything else on the market.4. They stated when the 600/700 released that the 800/900 will be an upgrade to the base package. It is also, and you get a 2 new models! 5. You have all liveries you want for free!! Is passes 100 now!6. How many hours you enjoy them?7. Regarding the market price I think like this: if they sell a $35 package with that quality, if I was other aircraft developer will consider reducing my price, or improve greattly the product!! Sometimes there are those products that set the standards!!8. Finally if I consider a price for a product too high, I just don't go for it! Period! That's my way of saying them: becarefull, you problably will have plenty more guys like me! And then you will have to make bundles and promotions! Now a comparison I usually do for other things in life: how much some of you spend with cigars? With alcool at bars? That doesn't help your health! The only problem FS gaves me is with my wife!!Just my 2 cents.Miguel
