Come on. How can you compare a game with a worldwide audience that reaches into hundreds of thousands with a flightsim addon? You can't. Flightsim doesn't have that large of a following.

Boy, did I open a hornets nest...see other tread on PMDG 737-800/900First of all, users should not steal or share payware...that is out-n-out theft; you should be prosecuted for this crime (developers should be able to make a profit, even if we disagree with their policies).

>>>I will give a word of thanks to developers who have maintained or decreased their pricing

Finally Darryl, something we can agree on ;)

Darryl, Have you been in a closet for years? PS1 has been around for a LONG TIME, it is not a flight simulator add-on but a whole 744 sim unto itself. That price you see now is much cheaper than what it was original sold at! In fact it is no longer being updated so I assume that is one reason for the price drop. It is a great CBT like product for 744 lovers. [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Also, I don't think developers should charge, "What the market will bear"...carefully read my first post...these trends tend to eliminate most users causing a smaller market share for MS Flight Simulator.Darryl, I hope you don't mind the questions, but have you taken an economics class? PMDG probably analyzed the elasticity of the market before deciding on a price. They're not stupid, you know. They're selling at this price because it is the equilibrium point (where profits are maximized). PMDG's decision makes economic sense, otherwise they wouldn't have made it.i.e.. Price right, larger flightsim community, more market share for the dreaded Microsoft...more development, continued product line.Your argument is flawed, since the flightsim community is a pretty stable market, without sudden growth (except when a new version comes out). PMDG's pricing will not change the community in size, since it does not appeal to the common simmer that would flow in or out. Its target audience is limited as it is, but the pricing within that audience is highly elastic. In other words, you're paying more for this plane because of its complexity. If you want cheaper planes, you won't get the same quality.I don't understand why people are complaining though, it's not like this was unexpected. This was announced back when the -700 was released... Daniel P.

"I don't know if this product is worth $62.90."Let me state my so-called agenda, I want the PMDG 737-800/900 aircraft, but I am not willing to pay for the previous 600/700 model in order to make this purchase. I publicly discussed this matter before when PMDG made their policy announcement (a first of this kind). What PMDG should have done is offered each package at $39.95 and create an upgrade for buyers who purchased the first package at $22.95 (special limited pricing, etc). This is what RPS did on their Ready For Pushback-2nd Generation software.btw, I simply don't care for the looks of the B737-600/700 aircraft, too small and too WN/Southwest for my taste...

Go get a life!!!!!! If your not happy stay with the Freeware stuff!I think the PMDG 737 is cheep and well worth the money! They have Put alot off work into there product i beleave its the Best addon ever made for flightsim!! So Go Cry somewhere else and tell someone that Cares!!! JOB WELL DONE PMDG ITS A BARGIN FOR ALL THE WORK YOU PUT INTO IT!!!

I bet you could go back in the forum and find the same posts from when the 737NG was first released. I dont know why people are trying to defend the NG. I have it I love and I think many, many, many, people do as well. These threads will be a few pages down by the end of the weekend. Just go fly and let these yo yo's slip of the front page.Yeah I know posting here is doing exactly what I say shouldnt be done but I had to get this off my chest. Time to land my overpriced add on.;) Which is was worth every penny*:-*

Andrew

First, let's stop the insults...and $62.90 is the highest price ever for any aircraft with one exception.Standard pricing for a complete aircraft is around $29.99 to $39.99, I think PMDG pricing will cause an upward trend in all aircraft pricing

You work for Araine or just like causing a ruckus cause you are a cheapskate?[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. Smithhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/betaimg.jpgAMD 64 3200+ | ASUS KV8 DELUXE | GFORCE 5700 ULTRA @535/1000 | WD SATA 80 GIG | 512 DDR 400 |

First off, my apologies for my "Pee on this thread post", I acutally was just messing around but by the time I came back from dinner with my wife I could not edit to add a smiley face (OOPS!).With regards to paying $62+ for an add-on, that is something that is, and always will be, left up to each individual. I noticed a Forgotten Battles + AEP comparison earlier and all I can say is that not only is that comparison unfair it is downright ridiculous. All the dogfighting, bombing, campaigns, single missions, etc.. aside the only thing left is the aircraft modeling and the what each "simulates". Comparing the aircraft and type of gameplay to the PMDG737NG Series is, well, stupid. One simulates WWII aerial and ground conflicts while the other simulates flying a commercial aircraft. The ONLY comparison is the fact that both have aircraft.Inversely, a serious fan of flight simulation would complain that FB + AEP does not accurately model all failures, flight models (constantly changing), etc.. But of course nobody would do that because FB + AEP models WWII conflict....everybody knows that and that is why the comparison is not made on their forms and yet we see that comparison here. I have been a member of the IL/2, FB, and FB + AEP communities since the dawn of each, and I have been in the same squad since the release of the original IL-2. We don't comapre the two because it's stupid. Nuff said. Now, price wise. Where I live in California if my wife and I want to go to the movies it will cost us $10.50 each. That's $21.00. Let us add in 1 large popcorn, $5.00+, and how about 2 large sodas (medium is only .25 less), $8.00. Ok, for my wife and I to go to the movies ONE TIME for 2 HOURS to watch a movie that MIGHT SUCK it will cost me $34.00. Yep! $34.00 for 2 hours of movie that might just blow goats. More then half the cost of the PMDG 737NG Series which I can GARUNTEE has provided at least 200x the entertainment. Now the choices for my wife and I are quite simple. I ask her, "how about instead of going to the movies this week I buy one scenery package for FS I want and you buy 1 shirt/blouse/skirt, whatever, that you want?" Her answer is always the same. I can wear a new skirt a lot more then for 2 hours. And in agreement I can use my scenery or add-on aircraft for a lot longer the 2 hours.I would wager a guess that many who say that $62+ is too much for an aircraft have spent quite a bit more then that on one night of "going out", and their reward, a migrane!!!Seriously people, you woudn't spend $62+ on something that can provide you with hours upon hours of enjoyment, not just flying, but conversing with other PMDG owners, taking screenshots, telling eachother flying stories, trading flight plans, etc..? That is not worth $62+??? You have got ot be kidding me, right? In closing, next time you are out with your friends at the local bar "desperately seeking Susan" ask yourself when you get that bar tab if that money could have been better spent. Or next time you are at the movies on a Friday night, when the movie ends, ask yourself if the movie was really worth it. Or perhaps after your next round of golf maybe you could ask yourself if you could have skipped golf just this one week to get that FS add-on you have been eyeing for the past few weeks/months/etc...And BTW...I left out dinner before or after the movie! The choice is yours....:)

Randy, I do not work for any developer...and I am not a cheapskate...I just think $62.90 is simply too much for one aircraft. The PMDG B737-800/900 is an excellent aircraft even though it on the edge of the pricing curve. (Please read my earlier posts)And please, no name calling...

Thanks for the comment/apologie Shane, I did not want this tread to turn into a name calling war. (See my first post)To set things straight, I will repost an earlier comment....In response to In response to 51Sun Apr-25-04 09:55 AMby AA777-223 "I don't know if this product is worth $62.90."Let me state my so-called agenda, I want the PMDG 737-800/900 aircraft, but I am not willing to pay for the previous 600/700 model in order to make this purchase. Well it seems that you have an agenda in making a rukus over the pricing, not that you do not have a right per se to feel any way you want but I take offence in the manner that you are doing it. If we were just talking about ONE plane then maby, just maybe you would have a foot to stand upon but let's see what we are really talking about1] 737 600-700 Package released for 39.95. Some did not like that price either but hey it's a free world to buy or not.2] 737 800-900 series add-on, 2 new models, New cockpit, new VC, new nightlighting, new FMC additions, new and updated EVERYTHING. Hum 22 bucks. You can always buy a 20 dollar sound package by that um what's their name developer for the 737! I bet that is ok, let's see 20 dollars for sound alone or a completed new 800-900 with real TCAS (first time eva done right in FS) for 2 dollars more. I guess it's all in the way one looks at it eh? Sure I would like 5 dollar add-ons but really I cannot get any credible developer to write hundreds of thousands of lines of code for that price. Of well I can dream [h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
