A general comment...I would pay $40.00 for the PMDG 737-800/900 model (A fair market price...what new software sells for). I think this package should have sold has two different packages, with discount pricing for original purchasers who upgrade to the 800/900 model. Also, I don

Southwest, Continental, Aloha, and Alaska operate the -700 in the US.

I have had the 737-600 and 700 NG for a few months now and I bought the 737-800 and 900 today, but can someone explain why you need the 737-600/700 to use the 737-800/900?

When I stay in a hotel is usually out of town in which you have to include the price of the trip plus car rental. It adds up really fast.Edgar

Yes bobp, it's funny how some posts get moderated here and others don't, perhaps it goes on the amount of posts made. I made one slip of a word months ago and it got deleted, beats meAnthony

I agree with an earlier post that the flight sim community is the most spoiled group of hobbyists in the world. We get so much bang for our entertainment buck, but we still don't want to fairly compensate people for their time and effort. The original PMDG 737 has given me literally 200 hours worth of entertainment for $39. It is a rock solid high quality product. Let me think of some other entertainment/hobby expenses I've incurred in the past two daysgreen fees to play golf Friday - $52dinner/movie with wife tonight - $65 (oh, and another $40 for a babysitter)Those activities are over in done in hours, yet the PMDG upgrade is going to be something I'll continue to use for the rest of the year. Heck, I think it's a pretty good bargain. We have been so spoiled by high quality add-ons for free or cheap. But as it takes more and more resources to build high quality add-ons, we should expect to pay for it. If you can't afford it, don't want to spend the money or don't like it, there are literally thousands of freeware options for you.I'm sure PMDG sets their price to what the market will bear. And as long as they continue to churn out incredible software, they will continue to earn my money.

I don't like to compare real life with a hobby (real life comes first)Also, I don't think developers should charge, "What the market will bear"...carefully read my first post...these trends tend to eliminate most users causing a smaller market share for MS Flight Simulator.i.e.. Price right, larger flightsim community, more market share for the dreaded Microsoft...more development, continued product line.

He wasn't comparing "real life" with a hobby. He was comparing the costs of one form of entertainment with another and pointing out that for the cost of one dinner out or one round of golf he gets a plane he'll enjoy for probably hundreds of hours. When you think of it in terms of the number of hours of entertainment you get, 60 or 70 bucks for the jet isn't so bad. However, 60-70 is too much for me for this particular plane at this time. See, thats the great thing about a free market - I get to pick and choose what I spend my money on. If enough people feel the way I do, PMDG may rethink their pricing for the next release. If, otoh, they sell lots of copies then they won't becuase obviously theres an audience willing to spend that amount. (btw, this thread is suspisciously similar to one on another forum that started recently. You aren't by any chance on a crusade are you?) :)

LOL...now thats funny stuff!

Well, my 2 cents worth. I purchased the PMDG 600/700 within 5 minutes of it being released and purchased the 800/900 as soon as I woke up yesterday morning. I have been flight simming since the old "Sub Logic" days and always enjoyed it. I never really got deep into learning systems etc on the commercial stuff because it didn't interest me. I have probably, over the years, purchased $2000.00 worth of payware add-ons. Most of them I flew a few times, hangered, and never took them back out. The PMDG 737NG was different. I have been flying this bird almost daily since the day it was released and have never stopped being amazed. I have jumped "whole hog" into learning how to fly it "by the numbers" and would imagine I have already logged 350+ hours flying her. You have to remember that it's not just the visual model. It's the systems, the cockpit the virtual cabin and the manuals, which by the way are worth the price of admission on their own. Years ago, prior to breaking my back, I was an avid bass fisherman. One all day trip, including boat fuel, automobile fuel, food, lost lures etc would cost $50.00-$75.00. I believed then, and still do, that it was worth every penny simply because of the enjoyment I received. Same holds true for the PMDG 737NGWhew,,,long winded sucker ain't I :)
