April 27, 200422 yr It seems Ariane is pulling out all the stops on their new NG marketing. Go check out their site and youll see what I mean.Im not trying to start a bashing thread, but some of the comments on their website are quite nasty towards PMDG (Who's Camp im in). I have no doubt that the Ariane offering will be classy, but no doubt IMHO it will be way more than what PMDG charge, not as detailed, and I guess it will be
April 27, 200422 yr well she certainly looks nice, but will I get it, no way, the PMDG bird does everything I want, plus there always seems to be an air of "dodgyness" surrounding Ariane.Might be a good option for the guys who just want one variant of the NG though.Dan.
April 27, 200422 yr Jason, I think I have asked this of you before. Please do not make me ask again. Only ONE signature image please. Please remove one or the other, but limit the signature images to one only.
April 27, 200422 yr ...The masters of hype strike again.Forgive me Ariane, but based on your past performance and far-from-bug-free releases, your new claims are hard to swallow. So is the arrogance of your implied suggestion that the the current range of 737 projects were inspired by Ariane.Every time I read the stuff Ariane write, I get a real feeling of 'DEJA-MOO' (i.e. I've read that bullsh*t before).IMHO, don't wait for anyone. If you're in the market for an authentic value-for-money 737 series that DOES work and is HERE NOW, buy from PMDG who are clearly the leaders that I'm sure Ariane would love to try and emulate.Toni.
April 27, 200422 yr Before anyone buys anything from Ariane, a thorough search through the forums is a good idea. I appreciate all members of the flight sim community in one way or another, but I think most of the dodgyness comes from one individual behind the scenes at their site. I don't need to explain further, especially for those members who have been here longer than I. With this in mind, it's not surprising to hear this sort of statement from that company. I personally would never shop at Ariane, given their history. Derogatory remarks from a "professional" company are a big turn off. Insulting PMDG, to me, and others in the community, I'm sure, makes me feel like someone is disrespecting a good friend of mine. I think these tactics will backfire on Ariane and they will remove the remarks from the site soon. One more solid vote for PMDG!!!
April 27, 200422 yr They don't "act" like a company I'd do bidness with. There are too many bad reviews about their version of "service". The principal, whoever he really is, has much to answer for, it seems. I get "slimey vibes" from that company. It reminds me of a Rhodes Scholar who didn't finish the program and went into politics, instead.
April 27, 200422 yr I've heard lots of things about Ariane, but have bought only one product from them. A B737-300 cockpit panel with the steam gauges. I really like it and enjoy it regularly. Their customer service can be cranky though.Othewise, no problems here. Im sure the Ariane alternative will be fine for a lot of folks who dont need the ultra high end of PMDG.I myself fly 737-800 based on Eric Cantus excellent airplane with the skydecks panel. I've become more of a GA flyer lately anyway though.Eric AND
April 27, 200422 yr rightseatAs far as I know (and I could be wrong), you can't search back far enough to learn about the "one individual behind the scenes". He is truly one slimy scoundrel, and if he is still around he will probably sue me for this. That always was his M.O., along with lying, cheating, and any type of deception he could come up with.David

April 27, 200422 yr Go to Avsim's front page and do a search in the news archives for "Peter Tishma" . Enough said....Toni.
April 27, 200422 yr I'll be looking forward to the reviews that come out. I'd like to see how much crap these guys are talking about their product.
April 27, 200422 yr Thanks Toni. I'm glad we can still access the old stuff as there's a wealth of great info in there. I should have known, been spending too much time flying I guess.David
April 27, 200422 yr I read the prose on their site--first visit there in a long time. I think they are struggling to find a way back to "center" stage, not that they ever were there IMHO. With freeware getting better and better (the wing texturing on Erick Cantu's NG is as good as anything I've seen from Ariane), and PMDG setting the standard in payware, I can only guess that Ariane is hoping that a website designed to act like a political ad will snare more of the unsuspecting. It's a pet peeve of mine when people can't sell something on their own--take walking into a Toyota dealership, and the salesperson's spiel includes knocking U.S. domestic automakers. They are "a day late and a dollar short"....BTW, if you are listening PMDG, have you ever considered doing a "light" version of your NG? Something akin to what Ariane and Erick does--w/wing views but leaving it to the user to provide a panel, sounds, etc....? Your NG is so visually appealing I think there'd be a market for that for those who aren't interested in the full cockpit immersion that your product offers. I really enjoy the 1900D--it is one of a handful of aircraft I fly now...-John
April 27, 200422 yr If my memory serves me right (yeah right :-)) I think that came up once in the pmdg-forum, but I think that it was rather out of the question.. Not a bad idea though!rgrds fredrik granfors
April 27, 200422 yr >Jason, I think I have asked this of you before. Please do not>make me ask again. Only ONE signature image please. Please>remove one or the other, but limit the signature images to one>only.Ok Tom I have done so. If you had of asked me I would of done it or may be I never saw it. I do feel privildged to be a user of AVSIM, and I respect your rules and the costs you incure for this wonderful community. However I dont like the tone in which you have requested that I remove one of the sig's. Why do you have write with this tone: Please do not make me ask again I find that quite ofensive, as its not like I have done it, and done it constatly, or done it to irritate you.Again I respect your wishes, but you must also respect the fact that one dosent get to see every reply to their posts.Jason
