April 28, 200422 yr Author Hi ToniDidn't realise the ARIANE "NG" project is that far away from completion - their website appears to be offering it for sale online already (or am I getting confused with the multitude of similar looking 737 addons/liveries they offer for sale). The pics are nice but the site layout is messy and confusing.ARIANE NG vs PMDG NG would be an excellent review subject for AVSIM (whether they have to pay for the software or not - we do!).Adam MooreWin XP Pro - Dell Dimension 4500P4 2.54 GHz - 1GB RAMHightech Radeon 128MB 9800Pro IceQ19" CRT 1600x1200 @ 100hzAudiophile 24/96FS2004 + UK2000 1/2/3/4/5/6/EGLL PROUK PHOTOGRAPHIC SCENERY 1/2/3/4UK VFR TERRAINUltimate VFR : RealAir SF-260Ultimate IFR : PMDG 737-700NGUltimate FUN : RealAir Decathlon/Scout
April 28, 200422 yr I don't know much about Ariane. I've never purchased anything from PMDG or Ariane. I have read the news archives here on avsim. I've now visited the Ariane website and I have to say that the shots of the AC look pretty darn good. The PMDG looks very nice too. But as someone in the market for a GOOD 737 simulation, I'm waiting before I buy anything. The day the Ariane is available some people are going to buy it. Wait and read their comments on the support forums. Personally I really dig the fully clickable VC, although I understand the PMDG is basically the same right? I want the best airliner simulation that I can get...I want to have to spend 2 weeks just learning the systems and trying to get the thing started! I will spend my money with whomever can deliver that, and the other sim enthusiasts will be a big part of my final descision. It seems to me that right now PMDG is on top, but I like to see some competition.
April 28, 200422 yr >Wait and>read their comments on the support forums.Does Ariane have its own support forum ? Could not find one.Michael J. Michael J.
April 28, 200422 yr if not, comments will be posted here and over at the 'other' fs forums. There won't be a lack of comments I'm sure.
April 28, 200422 yr The issue is not about PT's company making a good product. The issue is whether or not flightsimmers should continue to put money into this guy's pocket when he has a clear history of being the type of individual most of us don't want around. I hope that none of you will buy this new plane as means to send a clear cut message to PT that he's not wanted. Being in America, I can call for a boycott, free speech and all, so I don't worry a bit about PT's legal dept. I believe it is only right that honest simmers stand up to this company and show them, through lack of sales, that their tactics are unprofessional and their products are unwanted. JM2C
April 28, 200422 yr Coughs''' well while Araine's pictures look great this really means nill if it in fact does not cover the real NG systems etc. Take the PMDG NG pull out a real FPPM (Boeing flight performance manual) and put it to the test. Will Peter and clan have Alt and Spd intervention? Will they have a A/P built from the ground up? How is the VNAV and idle descents? What about VNAV ALT? I would love to Put thier NG to the test and sure I would be fair![h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. JM2CI'm not going to worry too much about their past...everyones done things in the past they regret. I'm judging the products based on their merits, not the past. I am encouraged by the other post though that states you can take a real performance manual to the PMDG and fly..that's cool.
April 28, 200422 yr haha!Good to see PT-(Barnum) is back in business!I have a few observations....Turn the Boeing logo upside down, then look at Ariane's logo... notice anything?(I also have to wonder if Peter Tishma obtained Boeing's approval to use their logo on Ariane's website.) April 28, 200422 yr >You know what, guys at Ariane?>>You'd rather do another plane because the 737 NG is PERFECTLY>covered by PMDG!>>What we need is a 777, as it seems that Phoenix isn't doing>it...>>AC5Totally agree with you on this one.. theres too many A3XXs and 7XXs duplicated out there... if one of these companies jumped on something not out there yet, they'd make a killing! Like a 777 :)
April 29, 200422 yr Hi everyone,Well I have read most of the post in this thread and like most of you, if Peter Tishma is connected to Araine; I won
April 29, 200422 yr If I bought either, I'd buy PMDG's first, probably.Though, Ariane's nose is better in my opinion...then again, Ariane's been a pain in the bum since they started out, so...meh. Their designers are good. Very nearly the best. Their management is the problem, and I don't think it's any mystery as to who runs Ariane.I can't afford either so I made my own, and I guess that's all I have to say.
April 29, 200422 yr Author Interesting if now becoming a potentially litigious thread.I'll dip out of this one I think!
