Hi CoolP

Sorry, Mia Culpa,.........etc... etc.

You will not believe it. It seems that when I flushed out FSX a month or so ago and started with a clean fresh install, I forgot to put that most essential of tweaks in the FSX root. It was in the system32 folder instead.

Yep, UIAutomationCore.dll. That and a couple of Word Not Allowed's fsx.cfg tweaks here and there, and getting rid of the screensaver as was suggested herein, amazingly, managed a 15 hour real-time PMDG MD-11 flight with a McPhat repaint,---- so graphics was stressed,----- with CPU temp never above 28C throughout, which eliminated a hardware issue.

Now, all's well that ends well. Long flights without a hitch.

A great big Thank You to you and all.im%20Not%20Worthy.gifim%20Not%20Worthy.gifim%20Not%20Worthy.gif

Glad to read about a working system for a flight sim enthusiast, Rick.

Thanks for those kind words, CoolP..Also forgot to mention that I took Jim's pagefile tip and applied that too.

Now.........if I could only figure out the feelThere Embraer 175 to capture the ILS...........but that's a another ball game. That Epic LT is one heck of a powerful single-engined plane.

I'm so pleased for you Rick, well done

If I may suggest something, try moving over to P3P. Never had a crash and most of your add-ons work perfectly.

Seeing that I'm all thumbs 'n nails with a simple keyboard, I'd have much greater difficulty with a joypad. Nice suggestion though.

@Howard, thanks for your kind words. Same to you Julian. As always, very supportive. This is what embellishes this particular Forum.

Erm, I meant the FSX-derived flightsimulator from Lockheed-Martin: http://www.prepar3d.com/

:-)

You will fly happily for a while - but don't celebrate yet. I bet you in a very short period of time you'll get another crash - probably at final after couple of hours. I bet you!!

Oddly enough, I have been giving that a great deal of thought. Just not too sure what aircraft are available within that sim, etc,etc but is certainly some very good food for thought. Thanks.

I fully expect that. This is after all, FSX............and we all know............Nirvana it certainly is not.

Btw you actually flew 15 hours? How? I like realism but somehow I find it useless to alt-tab 14 hours on auto-pilot just for 'realism'

Actually flew most part of it in a windowed mode so that I could actually stress the CPU with muti-threading, with regular 20-minute references to EFB, Topcat, and FSC to check the flight progress as well as create route Saves, in case I'd go back if it CTD'd, but the main objective was to check the CPU being stressed so was monitoring Mb as well as CPU real-time temperatures.

And that objective was achieved, as far as I was concerned. Since then done lesser duration 3-4 hour Med flights, and all still okay.

Hand flying an MD-11 at 38k is nigh impossible for me, other than the AoA recommended flight envelope to 5k, and approach, hence have to resort to the AP.
