June 16, 201213 yr Hey all, Just got AS2012 to use with ASE. After messing with it a bit, I'm just not quite getting how to set up the various textures/snapshots/etc. Basically, I think I read that there is a way to have ASE choose the "most appropriate" graphics when running, which I'd like it to do, including having it set color sets such as those seen when looking at "dusk" in the AS2012 interface. I'm also not sure whether I'm supposed to set anything up in AS2012, or just "do all the work" through ASE. Any help appreciated! Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
June 16, 201213 yr Hi Andrew Can i just ask what you mean when you say you got AS2012 to use with ASE? Chris Howard

June 16, 201213 yr Andrew, AS2012 replaces ASE completely. June 16, 201213 yr Yup, once you've got AS 2012 installed ASE is very much obsolete. Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
June 16, 201213 yr Uninstall ASE. Use your new serial number emailed to you to install ASA2012. If you are using an upgrade license (ASE to ASA2012) simply use your old serial when prompted when you start ASA2012. Hopefully you did purchase the cheaper upgrade license if it's still available. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
June 16, 201213 yr I would like to know if I can still use ASE for FS9 and ASA 2012 for fsx? Thank you in advance. Ricardo
June 16, 201213 yr I would like to know if I can still use ASE for FS9 and ASA 2012 for fsx? Absolutely. Just run the one you want. It is not necessary to uninstall ASE to install AS2012... they are completely separate programs. DJ
June 17, 201213 yr Author Aha - Well, I got ASE thinking it was an upgraded (i.e. the "newest") weather engine (sans graphics), and got AS2012 thinking it had an older weather engine but good graphics, with the intent of having ASE use AS2012 graphics. I got AS2012 at the upgrade cost but looks like I didn't need to buy ASE in the first place, then? Thanks, Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
June 17, 201213 yr You're right. Buying AS2012 would have been sufficient. Cheers, Bert AMD Ryzen 5900X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 Ti, Windows 11 Home 64 bit, MSFS 2024
June 17, 201213 yr Author Figures. I'll see if I can get a refund. ASE is still pretty heavily pushed, has (IMO) a "newer-looking" interface, and is the only one available on their own shop, so I assumed. Not a huge difference as I got the upgrade, but still. thanks H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
