FSX Android Apps

Featured Replies

Hello. I haven't been playing FSX in a while (been busy with other games and stuff) and in the mean time I got a new Android phone, so I was wondering are there any useful apps for it like METAR, flight planning, tracking, anything really that is cool to use on your phone while flying in FSX. Thanks :Peace:

Hey H4wkeye,

Welcome to the wonderful world of Android!

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and my favourite aviation related app is AVIATION TOOLS available for free at the Google play store.

It's brilliant for getting airfield information, the latest METARs and TAFs and you can also download approach/aerodrome/SID/STAR charts via the app!

Have fun!

Cheers

That looks amazing! Thank you very much! I'll download it right away.

P.S. And thanks for the welcome, Android has some amazing apps that I use daily

I just added Aviation Tools to my Droid last night after seeing mention of it in another thread - was that you Adam? I forget where I saw it, and wanted to thank whoever it was, as this is a great little app!

Could have been Scott not sure. I use it all the time while flying in FSX - great for downloading approach charts and getting the latest weather. Glad you like it too!

Cheers

Yes, I'm using it quite often, specially because I don't have 2nd monitor or laptop for moving map. So far I didn't have any problems with it.

Sadly there are not a lot of FS apps for Android. There are much more for iStuff (Pads, Phones, ..).

I use FSMovmap on my HTC EVO 4G LTE just plug the usb charger in and pop out the kickstand and put it on top of my yoke and I have a great looking map right in front of me. Really nice to know what towns you're flying over and what not. The best thing I use is AvationMaps by Avilution on my 10" Toshiba Thrive Tablet. For 4.95 a month you get a all charts for the United states really invaluable for flight planning. I also use my tablet to view checklists and charts I download for Canada and plenty of other things. Honestly the best thing I ever bought for flight simming.

Quck question: I'm new to android so kind of dumb about them.

Anyways, my tablet is a 9" screen model. The FlightMap purchase page says it is designed for 7" and for 10" tablets.

Will it work on my 9" tablet?

Thank you !

Yes, FlightMap functions on tablets 7 inches and above. This includes 8 and 9 inch tablets. The free trial version is available to confirm compatibility with your tablet before purchase.

And the best for iOS?
