Boy, I wish I were rich!

It's got a 5001' x 150' runway now. Will he really need two miles to stop his biz jet?

I guess it depends upon what he's using? He's listed as having a Citation X and a Gulfstream V. Both show a minimum runway length requirement of over 5,000'. Load either up with fuel and a couple of beach babes and he's going to need more than what Lana'i offers now? He will need to add fueling capabilities, otherwise the poor pilot will have to drop over to the corner gas station (Kahului) and ask them to "fill 'er up!".

I know Larry Ellison operates a jet out of my home airport of KSQL, which has a runway length of 2600'. I thought it was a Citation, but 2600' doesn't appear to be long enough...

Here is a video of it. I can't tell what it is, though....

From SkyVector:

"Jet Aircraft Based on Field: 1"

I had read at one time on a real estate page that only native Hawaiians could own land in Hawaii and that any house you bought there sat on leased land. Is that not correct?

Also.... OT

Does anyone know why the Firefox built in spell checker doesn't work for posts in this forum?

That used to be true but they've changed the ownership laws in Hawaii. The only reason that I know is that I thought the same thing so I looked it up when I was in Maui last year.

Actually, what would be more fun, would be to buy the island next to his one, buy a few warplanes, and then declare war on him. :LMAO:

Al

Check and make sure they have cockpits first.

There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.

500 mil.. CASH... the news said tonight. He is a pilot, and owns a couple of russian mil jets they said. He had some complaints flying too low with them they added, but I missed the location of those.

I imagine you lose all concept of the cost of things with 36 billion in the bank.. My low wage mind wonders how much of that is being chewed up with real-estate taxes on a 145 mile stretch of land.

145 miles... Looks like Lords and Commodores are making a come back. Long may they reign.

KSQL!?!? Is that ironic, or what? (Why, yes, I am a database jock :-).)

Now thats hilarious.

Ahhh... the old child in a small, fast, tube syndrome. Many know it well. Along with the dreaded un-fed baby in a movie theater syndrome.

Maybe he will team up with Branson, build a launch pad & start blasting wealthy bods into orbit with 2nd hand Saturn 5's?

Mmmm. Peaceful Hawaii.....

Well, I was rich at one point in my life and now I'm dirt poor just trying to make ends meet. I really liked the rich a whole lot better.
