June 24, 201213 yr I am wondering why the bottom part of the hud image is hidden behind the glareshield on take off? June 24, 201213 yr Moderator Move your eyepoint up a bit and it will be completely visible. If you have EZDok and the hat switch assigned to move around (up-down-left-right) or keys assigned to do the same, its a snap. Also, if your using EZdok, after you get the view the way you like it, hit the 2 key on your keypad twice and it will save the position. Once the landing lights come on that portion gets hidden, if you want it take off the landing lights. The limitations of FSX are still preventing us from advancing at the moment :Waiting:
June 24, 201213 yr Moderator ...or you could turn off landing lights. It's a known conflict. Appears to be nothing to do about it. Cheers. Lasse In his case the landing lights dont have anything to do with it. It's just that his eyepoint is to low. That's the way a collimated HUD/HGS works. If you have an eye point that is too low, too high, or too far to the left or right, you wont see everything that it is displaying. A simple re-positioning will fix it so that you can see all of what is being displayed. Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

But what you see in the attached picture is that the HUD image is partly hidden behind the dash board. That won't ever happen with a HUD - collimated, or not. // Lasse Kronborg

Yes, there is an issue with the lower part of the dash, but the fact is the eye point is too low. Try it yourself, load the NGX and lower your eyepoint down that far and part of the display will disappear, raise the eye point and it will once again be visible. When I use the NGX and use an eyepoint that is raised above what the OP's is, the whole display is visible and not blocked out. We can agree to disagree, but that fact remains that if the eyepoint is raised the fellow will be able to see the whole display, which is what the guy is seeking as far as I read. June 24, 201213 yr Author I have raised the eyepoint and all is now in view . Many thanks it was so easy. June 25, 201213 yr Sean, Changing the eyepoint will step around this FSX limitation, by moving the projected image element above the windshield/wiper edge. Turning the Landing & taxi lights OFF, will fix the problem fully. The image can then appear overlaid even over the windshield/wiper edge. This limitation is noted in the release notes, and is related to the 3D volumetric lighting that PMDG implemented. * Orest Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
June 25, 201213 yr I have a really dumb follow-on. Everyone talks about EZdok, but is there any way to define views using plain FSX? I only fly the NGX, so I know very little about MS Flight Sim. I have gotten, and am gradually learning to use, TrackIR. But I want to set up predefined views of the overhead panels, and I'm having a very hard time. thanks for suggestions.
June 25, 201213 yr Buy EZDOK, it is worth every penny, you can easily set up any view you like. I can't imagine flying without it now and it adds a whole new dimension to the sim experience. I tried using FSX but couldn't get get anything satisfactory. Intel Core i7-6700 CPU @ 4.1GHzRAM 16 GBNVIDIA GeForce GTX 970Windows 10 Home Premium 64-bitAsus 32in monitor 2560*1440
June 25, 201213 yr I am going to ask a silly question and that is; where do I change the eyepoint and to what ? I namely have the same problem with the exception that my view is partly invisable from the left and even not using landing/taxi light will not help. Regards Dirk M. Karmelk

All I was trying to do was provide the OP (Richard), a work around so that he could see the full display of his HGS, which was to raise the eye point. Frankly I was surprised that this almost turned into some type of arguement. At least Richard was able to fix the problem and can now see his display which is all I was trying to help him with. I namely have the same problem with the exception that my view is partly invisable from the left and even not using landing/taxi light will not help. Regards Dirk M. Karmelk Prior to using EZdok, the easiest way for me was to assign one of my hat switches to move left/right/up/down and then assign the other hat switch for panning. If you have an X52 or some other controller with two hatswitches you could do that, otherwise using the control assignments menu (views tab) in FSX, use could assign the up/down/let/right arrows to move around also, leaving your one hatswitch for panning. Of course you could always buy EZdok and do the same thing as well as use key or button strokes to assign preset views also. Sean Campbell Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
