Now that the custom textures are available for the iFly 737 feature pack I've given it another try after suffering from really bad frame rates when I upgraded when it first came out a few weeks back. Sadly for me, it's still unflyable no matter how much I tweak.

 

I run FS9 on an 24" iMac (256MB ATI Radeon/4GB RAM/Core2Duo 2.8GHz) which is hardly a stellar performer, but it's adequate given that I can't justify a whole new PC for gaming only as I'm strictly a Mac boy. With all the nice stuff running in the background (GEX, REX, UTE, ASv6.5, FS2Crew, PFE) I can get a steady 21fps from the old version of the 737NG on the ground at UK2000 airports. It's only with daft levels of ai and/or really heavy weather that things get a bit bogged down. With the feature pack installed the frame rate is all over the shop and even though it often *says* I'm locked at 21, it feels like 10! I'm downgrading and sad to leave behind the many improvements of the FP but it's either that or I'll never fly this bird.

No affect on frames when I installed the FP. Runs as well as before. However, I have read about quite a few that have had the same issue as yourself.

No problem whatsoever - locked at 25 and it stays there nicely at any airport (FSDT and UK2000 and others) with GEPro, REX textures, UT, ASE and RC 4. i7 920 @3.2Ghz, 6GB, nVidia GTX260 and Win7 which is hardly a top of the line system. The old version of the 737NG isn't even close to the iFly, even without the feature pack, in graphics and systems so it really isn't a good comparison so far as system load goes.

Just as a matter if interest has a list been published yet showing what the feature pack includes? I don't care too much for having to play the easter egg game to find out what you get!

BenW I suspect you have a corrupted download. The iFly is VERY susceptible to interference by anti-virus proggies apparently during download/installation. Why don't you seek advice from the Flight1 boys at the iFly members forum?

 

An observation ... your 256 Mb ATI IS pretty skinny these days and I'm not surprised you might suffer at payware airports flying the iFly..

There is a topic at iFly support forum made for people having performance issues after installing FP.

 

To me the frame rates are the same as the earlier version, lock at 40fps most of the time. Although sitting in VC in big airports does decrease the performance to about 20-25FPS,but still very good.

I might try redownloading the FP and trying again. Yes 256 MB is pretty thin for gaming these days but the iMac is of course impossible to upgrade.

PC only for Fs9?

If so,that's exactly what I've done for the past few years. Upgrading PC only for Fs9,no other big reasons.

I haven't noticed any decrease in FPS - I get a bit of a hit in VC but nothing more than I would expect from any similar product and no change since the FP was released... I hope you can find the solution - it's such an outstanding product...

I too have noticed no difference in FPS whatsoever since installing the FP. Great before and after. I hope you get your problems sorted out.

Since the release of the FP, I only use the iFly 737 for all the routes. Flying such a realistic aircraft can never get bored.

 

Hoping that QW787 will be the same level or even more realistic
