May 25, 200422 yr Just a quick note. See where Simflyers has released a 2.0 version of their KATL airport scenery. Looks good based on screenshots. I am a former user of their 1.0 scenery back in FS2002. However dont use that version in FS9 because its a FPS hog. I'd like to use this 2.0 version and would pay for the upgrade if the FPS issues are resolved or not appreciably different than the default KATL. Before purchase, I'd like to ask that anybody who does take the plunge please post here so we can all see if any FPS improvements are available.ThanksEric AND
May 25, 200422 yr You should try the demo and make up your own opinion. However Simflyer sceneries, even the newer GMAX ones, tend to be fps killers.- Oyvind
May 26, 200422 yr Short and sweet here. Got the demo. Looks great. It's a pig. What else could be expected?AMD 1800XPShuttle AK12 MoBo256 MB PC133 RAMGeforce4 MX440Jon D. May 26, 200422 yr Simflyers... they're made for mid-high end computers.:-jumpyCheck out my work: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...Weik&CatID=Root------------------Kenneth [email protected]
May 26, 200422 yr Yep. I installed the demo into a fresh copy of FS2004. FPS with the default C172 was 7-9. I can only imagine what it would be in the PMDG 737NG with UT installed. May 26, 200422 yr My problem was the same, frame rates in the low teens to almost single didgits with NO traffic and default aircraft. I also had big problems with how they blend the borders with the default background, I thought it looked like crap and I dont believe this has changed.Hornit
May 26, 200422 yr Thanks boys.Answered my questions. I am pretty happy with the FS default in KATL anyway.Eric AND
May 26, 200422 yr Did they fix the night lighting issue? The lights at night on the taxiways were far too bright. I hope they also have replaced the Delta MD-11s with 777-200s and have taken away the 727s, because Delta no longer uses them (unfortunately!). Thanks,Robb
May 26, 200422 yr I didnt think DAL had gotten rid of the MD11's yet...Hornit...are they gone now? What a great airplane to ride in as a passenger. I flew on them to Japan quite a few times.Eric AND
May 26, 200422 yr All the MD-11's are gone except I think two, we are keeping them around for some military charters I believe. They will be gone shortly and may be already, not quite sure. I know World has picked up a few. It was a crappy plane from a pilots perspective from those I have talked to about it.Hornit
May 26, 200422 yr "It was a crappy plane from a pilots perspective from those I have talked to about it."Sure was a nice riding passenger plane though :-) I Loved the L-1011 too.Eric AND
May 27, 200422 yr I'm tired of getting the run-around from these guys. I've spent decent money with them over the last couple of years and when I ask about performance, all I get is their main support guy saying, "It runs fine here." What the hell good is that comment?I then asked about considering mip-mapping for all of us ATI customers and got another bunch of double-talk ("I'll pass it on to the developers"). Gee thanks. I think I'm done. I like the LOOK of what they've done but the impact is ridiculous compared to some of their competition. FlyTampa, for example, is loaded with features, looks great and doesn't kill your framerates.
May 27, 200422 yr The demos of their scenery don't run too well on my computer...See sig. specs. for reference to Simflyers performance....lol:( Ark -------------------------- I9 9900K @ 5ghz / 32GB G.Skill (Samsung B) / Aorus Master Mobo / EVGA GTX 2080Ti FTW 3
May 27, 200422 yr Well most of the KLM MD11 pilots I spoke with (including my dad) just love it. They wouldn't want to fly anything else other than the MD11. But I know that the PW engines (which Delta uses/used) are a hell to maintain. http://www.flightfactory-simulations.com/h...B_testpilot.jpg[a href=http://www.ifdg.net]--iFDG website!--[/a]
May 27, 200422 yr I have to agree. Beside what you said, it's interesting that there is so little discussion, at their support forum, of the framerate issue that is apparent in almost all of their sceneries, which to me is strange considering that it makes their sceneries practically unusable.I have no idea as to how they create their sceneries, but whatever they're doing, they're doing a great job of making them as unframerate-friendly as possible.I say this not to bash the Simflyers team or flame bate, but because this is something that I've been wondering about for a while now, especially when they charge money for their stuff.Thomas
