Question: Does Flight Benefit from HyperTheading?

Featured Replies

No U. S. Senator is a Muslim. There are no T-Rexs on the moon. So, yes, you can prove a negative:)

Provide evidence proving those things.

Provide evidence proving those things.

That's the point. I just did. You can also prove there are no married bachelors. We can show that something is self-contradictory.

No, you did not. Stating a belief with no supporting data is not proof of anything.

You can also prove there are no married bachelors. We can show that something is self-contradictory.

That is a totally different proposition. You can point to a dictionary to prove the married bachelor thing. Those are a contradiction.

Tell us what proves there are no people of specific religions in the US Senate.

Or that proves no alien visitor dropped a t-rex in a crater on the moon for us to find millions of years later.

Provide actual data, not assumptions or probabilities. Only data proves things.

You proved nothing, other than you can make a statement. . !!!!

Here is my statement...

News flash........, Flight is a modified FSX, Hyperthreading had no effect on FSX what so ever, absolutly none , the only thing hyperthreading will do in Flight is to raise the temperature of the CPU.

So just for giggles, let say that MS made Flight 100% Hyperthreading compatible by modifying the code (core), why will they not use car traffic, AI, boats and all the eyes candy we were use to see, I mean my 6 core CPU would become a 12 core one (6 virtual) at 4.5GHz.....so I could use12 cores with Flight as it is with no eyes candy...what a waiste it would be...

Gosh, by that argument, Flight does not offload any eligible processing to the GPU because FSX didn't do it, and Flight can't make effective use of more than one physical core.

Oh, wait...

(Not that I think HT is much more than a marketing gimmick, but that is beside the point.)

You'r confused, I did say that Flight is a modified FSX....

What am I confused about?

Yes, you did. What am I confused about?

Offloading CPU processing work to the GPU does not mean that Flight is coded to take full advantage of Hyperthreading.

I just spewed Diet Coke all over my monitor.

Of course not. But saying Flight is just a modified FSX, so it couldn't be improved in one processing area, doesn't really add up when it clearly has been improved in other processing areas.

But I agree that it does not gain from HT. I just have a bad habit of pointing out questionable logic.

No wonder, Diet Coke taste nasty.....

You are right, what should we see in Flight that will make us think it's coded to take full advantage of Hyperthreading, au contraire, they throw away everything that was a perf. killer in FSX and called it Flight, I have nothing against the game, it is just what it is.

News flash. You is wrong, be sure! Flight is NOT just a modified FSX.

No, I did not missed the improvements, they worked on some stuff to make it better that's for sure, lights, shadows and stuff like that, new planes responding better (like a real one).....but if hunting aerocaches is in your blood Flight is for you, if you are looking for a complete sim. Flight is falling way short of that.

I downloaded Flight, got Hawaii and after 2 months I deleted it from my hard drive, so I have nothing against Flight here, to each is own but who ever think that Flight is using a 100% brand new engine out of the box.... I have a lot of prime land to sell you 50 miles West of Boca Raton.

Back to the OP question.....Flight does not make use of Hyperthreading as Hyperthreading is intended for.
