July 31, 201213 yr Author Ah now that's good to know as I am impressed by the mce demo Lin, thank you
July 31, 201213 yr Author Lin, are there any instructions included with mce (or available elsewhere) for recording your own phrases? thanks EDIT found them thanks :)
July 31, 201213 yr In RC when get a clearance delivery and then you ack it you hear the pilot reading back the clearance followed by RC stating read back correct. I don't know how in MCE or other packages that would work for recording your own voice. RC4 uses 1,800 .wav phrases per (non-ai) pilot voices that are assembled as needed by RC. You can record those if you wish but cleaning them up and getting them to sound fluent is not easy. The process is outlined in the RC43 manual you can download from the links on this page: http://jdtllc.com/documentation.htm
August 1, 201213 yr Author mce is different in that you no longer hear the pilot reading back the clearance, the pilot is *yourself* talking directly to atc. So my undertsanding is when you create a dialogue in mce you are creating a 'switch' by speaking a phrase that you have taught to the program. I think I am right, maybe Lin or others can confirm this. Certainly I no longer hear the pilot talking and if I phrase my ack correctly, ATC reply direct to me.
August 1, 201213 yr When you ack a CD you'll here the pilot read it back and then RC will automatically respond. What I'm wondering is how RC knows when you are finished with the read back when using your own voice. It might be an added menu item when not playing pilot wavs. It is just this one part that I question as all other communications are reflected by menu choice activation.
August 1, 201213 yr Hello Ron I use voice to control RC every flight, it adds a lot to the experience, All that basically happens with any of these voice recognition apps is that they listen for a spoken phrase and once recognised, send a keystroke to RC , I have "play pilot waves", "pilot auto reply" and also "tune on contact" turned off in RC, the latter because I tune manually with my Goflight radios. So it is just myself and the controllers. RC will only respond when it gets the keystroke so no different to using the keyboard to respond to the message. Here is the phraseology included in "its your plane" taken from their website, I use VAC with my own phraseology but the principal is the same, I have built up multiple phrases for the same keystrokes for variation (a nice feature of VAC) Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+1 Acknowledge and contact Affirm Clearance delivery, ready to copy Choose landing mode Contact approach Contact clearance delivery Contact control Contact delivery Contact departure Contact (the) destination tower Contact ground Contact next control Ready for departure Contact tower Delivery ready to copy Direct to waypoint Next control Monitor tower Request taxi Request vectored approach Tune to the tower Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+2 Abort take off Contact ground for push and start Declare rejected takeoff Declare aborted takeoff Flight critique Get A T I S Get local ATIS information Get weather briefing Going missed Missed aproach Reject take off Request departure runway Request push and start Request runway Request runway for departure Request leave frequency for weather Request visual approach Request weather Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+3 Contact ground for clearance End radar contact Get clearance Ground ready to copy Notam on course Request P D descent Request return to airport Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+4 Clearance by F F S Declare emergency Request higher Request I A P approach Wind check Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+5 Clearance en route Clearance in air Field in sight Request landing runway Request lower Request runway for landing Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+6 Unable to comply Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+7 Acknowledge Acknowledge hand off Acknowledge I F R clearance Cleared for take off Cleared to land Cleared to {WAYPOINT} as filed Copy {FLIGHTNUMBER} (e.g. "Copy 1123") Copy {AIRLINEATC} {FLIGHTNUMBER} (e.g. "Copy Speedbird 1123") Expect vectors runway {RUNWAY} Line up and wait Position and hold Read back clearance Ready to copy Taxi into position and hold Over to next control Taxi to the ramp Taxi to and hold short of Traffic in sight Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+8 Previous menu Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+9 Next menu Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+O (the letter O - not zero) Over to next controller Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+P Display flight plan Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+R Repeat instruction please Repeat last instruction Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+; Save radar contact Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+L Set nav frequencies Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+K Hand back communications Take over communications Emits Keys CTRL+SHIFT+M Hand back plane Take over plane
August 1, 201213 yr Author From my brief time using MCE, I get the impression there is a time measure involved based on the length of the original (removed) message, so whatever my response, or however long it takes, there is then a pause until ATC respond again. I think this pause (this is only my impression) is the length of time the original pilot message would have taken to complete. So once I press the talk switch, the program seems to be allowing the same amount of time for me to speak, as the original pilot message would have taken. As I said, this is only the feeling I get from the pauses that follow my speech, but I don't mind the pauses, as it adds some realism rather than an instant response every time.
August 1, 201213 yr For what it's worth, regarding the original question, I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, FS Captain, UT2 and Radar Contact and they all work together perfectly fine. B) Obviously with too much traffic through UT2, Radar Contact does struggle with spacing to land all the planes, but I still think it works better than the default. As for FS Captain, the parking space system is actually great with RC, as it sort of takes over from where RC leaves you by assigning you a gate.
August 1, 201213 yr RC4 in busy areas during tower operations reduces the interactive ai chatter to keep audio performance up. The only airport area ai control is to maintain separation once tower is contacted on final and then on cleared to land freezes ai on the ground in proximity to the runway to prevent runway encroachment. If you are talking about getting taxi clerance to liner up and wait for take off RC does look at approaching landing aircraft. FS itself manages the ai in front of you. There is also the ai rush that happens when you load a flight in FS where within a certain time window ai departures all rush to take off and arriving ai show up shortly in a cluster. This is controlled by FS. In the FSX utilities section in the library is aismooth version 1.2 which works with FS9 as well. It spaces out according to your settings ai arriving on final and places them into a holding pattern. Just turn off the ATC speech and message options to avoid confusion with RC. Obviously with too much traffic through UT2, Radar Contact does struggle with spacing to land all the planes, but I still think it works better than the default.
August 1, 201213 yr Yes, I only really meant the spacing of landing planes which at some airports seems to cause about half of the ai planes to go around. I definitely have to try this ai smooth though, sounds like a great little tool. The only problem I've seen with planes taking off is where the ai's sometimes go to runway entry points which are not at the end of the runway and often if I am coming behind them and taxi past them to the end, RC clears me to take off first. This doesn't really bother me, though it can make me feel sorry for the ones in the queue that I have jumped. :-) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
November 14, 201213 yr Here because I was searching for a VAC profile for RC. VAC is perfect addition as it is soo flexible. Mad Dog you should release yours on the VAC site. Or have it PM able here. (Old thread so maybe not around here anymore) Thanks for listing the commands. That helps alot! I am working on a profile too and will release it. I want to add commands for real world comms (RC), GSX, AES, FSCrew, EZDok, UT2, ENB, CS wx, commands FSCrew does not handle, and anything that I have to use the keyboard for. Just need to do alot of flying and testing. Anyone who has not tried VAC it is great for just about everything...including desktop apps.
