BBS A320 or Aerosoft airbus extended
I have the AXE and have been flying it quite happily without any major troubles. It a little disappointing how long they have taken over fixing it and coming up with SP1, but of course if it delivers all will be forgiven. I don't have the BBS bus so can't comment on the product, but personally I would be worried that they have already according to their own statements ran out of money and had to release the A330 to get more capital. That money will run out soon enough as well and the question is what next? How many incomplete products will they have before they finally complete one and to what level. I wish all the best for BBS but the accountant in me is wondering if they will last long enough to complete anything.

The better Yoke for FSX?
MHyypia replied to Noel's topic in Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etcYes, promising so far but we still have to see how it translates to the European market. I wouldn't be too surprised to see it at the same pound/euro price as it is in dollars despite the difference in value. Fingers crossed. Sorry, I meant buying through their European suppliers of course rather than ordering from the US direct.

GoFlight Yoke Announced
I had a look around as well but doesn't seem that price has been announced. The 15% discount was for old items only. If the price is reasonable this could end up being my first yoke!

The better Yoke for FSX?
MHyypia replied to Noel's topic in Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etcI'm really looking forwards to the GoFlight yoke. It looks very promising being made of good materials and having lots of buttons which many of the other yokes are missing. It also helps that GoFlight is readily available in Europe unlike the PFC ones.

If the final product will turn out as good as it looks and the price is not crazy I might finally move from my joystick to a yoke.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Orbx England or VFR London X and City Airport?
Difficult to say what the FTX Global will look like with say default landclass in UK, but I'm sure there will be a benefit from having the England scenery. Global will only have generic textures shared for the whole world, while the Enland area will have more carefully selected textures, mesh, landclass and manually placed autogen and other objects. And while the extended FTX Global promises improvements to landclass, airports etc, I doubt they will do that for areas already covered by the Orb-X regions such as Enland. Incidentally, if it is London City airport you want, I would stick with UK2000 rather than either OrbX or Aerosoft versions, although of course you do get the whole city with Aerosoft which is nice but hard for your frame rate.

Orbx England or VFR London X and City Airport?
Those are very different products and do completely different things. The Aerosoft VFR London will give a very detailed London but the area only covers pretty much the city centre. It is also a little out of date as the product is a few years old, so don't expect Olympic parks or the Shard in London, though I think there are some user made objects at least for the shard. Orb-X England on the other hand covers the whole of the mainland England. There are many opinions on the product, but my view of it is that it gives quite a nice likeness to make England feel like England, but it is not completely accurate in that you could find all the land marks etc that you might want. In my opinion London is one of the weaker points of the product and it really shines when you take off from Gatwick for example and see the green fields and countryside below you. Hope this helps a little!

RC & Ultimate Traffic 2?
Radar contact recognises and "talks" to UT2 traffic, but as far as I know, it doesn't control it in any way. It does say things like "follow the 747" etc, but it doesn't tell you or the other plane to ever give way. Same in the air, it warns you of the traffic but doesn't ask either to take action. You will also need to use AI Smooth to keep the traffic out of your way during approach. Also, remember to check out the way to get RC to use the correct call signs for UT traffic. There are some old threads in these forums that you should check out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

30 FPS On Runway Then Drop After a sudden Pause ?
If you are loading the plane at the runway ready to go, then Ultimate Traffic 2 is the likely cause. However, the pause of loading traffic usually happens only a few seconds after loading the flight, so if you have already taxied to the runway, then it is unlikely to be the cause and something else will be to blame.

Should I install FS Global 2010?
I don't think it will affect load times much. I have my FSX on a SSD as well and I installed FS Global Ultimate Europe and Africa, taking the option to install to another normal drive to save space. I haven't noticed any longer loading times even with the much slower drive.

UTX vs. SceneryTech?
Yes, not sure if they are very good value for Europe or the US, but they work great for less well covered areas like Africa and Asia. They get rid of much of the "desert" left by MS in those places. Can't wait to cover it with FTX Global and finally those places could become really interesting to fly.

Fed up with OOMs!
Just wondering if you were running in full screen or windowed mode? I have pretty much exactly the same addons (OrbX, UTX, 4096 clouds and AS2012)but with UT2 at 70% traffic and LOD 6.5. Running in windowed mode I have never ran out of memory so far and I also mainly fly between UK2000 EGLL and EGKK to Aerosoft, FSDT and Fly Tampa airports. There are a lot of suggestions for FSX memory leak problems in full screen from past years and I am wondering if these could be contributing to the problems. I use windowed mode as I have a second screen running Aivlasoft EFB at the same time, but the more I see people having these problems the more it makes me wonder what is so different between their systems and mine.

Addon you wish existed but doesn't, not planes
+1 for the ATC. Particularly if it could actually control ai both in air and ground so we could get realistic spacing and ground movements. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Which Would You Prefer, Systems or Eye Candy?
I think it is reasonable that majority of those who enjoy flight simulation would like their experience to be as real as possible and that will require both in-depth systems and good graphics. Personally, I could say though that the external model doesn't really bother me at all. As long as the VC looks decent and the systems are good, I am happy.

Airbus X Extended Released
They have just announced on their forums that they are hoping to release a hot fix tomorrow which will among other things correct the slow rotation problems. Also, the winglet version is not supposed to be Neo. It is just the test aircraft with same old engines but with the new winglets included which I think some airlines have already ordered. They have changed some things like a bit more efficient fuel usage, but I don't think it is much of a difference.

Best joystick for fighter jets?
Well, the X-65F stick doesn't move at all, it only senses the amount of pressure you apply on it. You can set it to need a lot of pressure to move even a little bit though if you want. Also, like most hotas controllers it is right hand only, so it's not the most authentic possible for flying airbus. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Best joystick for fighter jets?
I have the X-65F and I can thoroughly recommend it. The pressure sensing feels very odd for a while but you quickly get used to it. The joystick is great quality made mostly of metal and therefore pretty heavy. The throttles are quite stiff which is not ideal unless you can attach them to something first by either Velcro or by screws. Using it it feels like the most accurate stick you could ever want and you can quickly adjust the force required to four preset buttons on the throttle. You will never need to calibrate again either. I've had mine for about two years, I think and not had any problems. I currently do all my flying with the stick. I would like to get myself a yoke to fly airliners, but to surpass the X-65F it would have to be a very expensive one indeed. I'm glad FSL's A320 is coming soon so I can continue using the joystick without it feeling wrong. :-) I have not tried the Warthog though, so unfortunately I can't compare the two. Fslabs a320 or Airbus 320 Extended
FSLabs will definitely be what you want, but you might have to wait longer than their initial release to practice failures. I'm not exactly sure how it is going to work, but from posts on their forum it seems they are planning to also do a "professional" version probably on the Prepared3D platform. The FSX bus will not have the full failure options etc. I would assume that the professional level product will have a higher price point as well though those details have not yet been released. Check their forums for further discussions on the failures. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Autosave with PMDG products
Yes, those are the edits I was talking about. I haven't tried the NGX since, but I added the same lines for the MD11 and those do not seem to work. Not sure if the format of the save is different in the MD11, as my folder is still full of "AutoSave Sat 185204.FLT.0.slv.rte" and "AutoSave Sat 185204.FLT.1.rte" type saves. I probably need to adjust the Alsomanage commands slightly for these. Worth keeping an eye on the panelstate folders nevertheless, as these can fill your FSX drive pretty quickly.

Autosave with PMDG products
A paid version of FSUIPC has an autosave function which saves the PMDG panel state as well. In fact, you need to be careful with it as it can save hundreds of panel states in the folder every flight if you set it often enough. There is a way around it though which you can find on the FSUIPC forums.

The World of Airbus Simulations
I tend to agree with Thralni on this one. If Aerosoft really gets their plane right it will probably be the best option for most normal simmers. I love the NGX, but I don't fly from the right seat or use the advanced failure options nor do I know so much about the plane to be able to appreciate odd realistic quirks in the plane. I love that they are there, but I wouldn't realistically miss them if they were gone. I have no doubt the FS Labs bus will be great, but there is bound to be cost to the complexity. Aerosoft's approach to the extended version really appeals to me and if they really have realistic systems for normal operations with great performance as well, that seems to be perfect for me. I will undoubtedly buy the FS Labs version anyway for my curiosity, but if Aerosoft achieves what they have aimed for, I can't see how that could be improved upon from my point of view.

How Are You Liking Your PMDG 737 NGX?
To me it is the best addon airplane available! To be honest I have been having a little break from flying the NGX and have been flying the MD11, but when you fly other planes it is the little great things that you miss. The built in options and load manager are a good example and also I love the little indicator of where you hardware throttle is positioned, so you can get it right when disconnecting AP every time.

How to change radar contact SID after clearance
Do you mean that you have the runway and SID already saved to the flightplan that Radar contact is looking at? If so, I think the only options for you are to a) request the runway that you originally wanted, or B) fly the runway RC has given you with a new appropriate SID, and when it complains about your route, ask direct to your next waypoint. The better way or doing things if possible is to save your flight plan without the SID or runway and load that to RC and select "departure with no altitude restrictions" in the options. You can then select the SID and runway in you plane's FMC based on the clearance given to you as long as your SID ends in the first way point of the route and RC won't complain.
