BBS A320 or Aerosoft airbus extended

Featured Replies

First off this topic might have been posted before so for those who hate recycled topics click away now.

Which of these two is better. I know the BBS a320 isn't completed yet. I am looking for complex simulations that i will enjoy, (I hate to say it because it is so over used) LIKE PMDG quality. I am not expecting a plane to be molded to the last spec of dirt but i would like something close.

I am also aware that FSlabs is making an a230.

Welcome.

At this time the only 2 A-320 that will bring a smile to your face are  the Aerosoft Airbus Extended Edition and BBS.

-- Aerosoft's A320: Has the most "everyday captains necessity" systems (check their website), and the most detailed and most beautiful graphics  (in and out) of any a/c currently in the market.

-- BBS A320:  Has a more in depth simulations of it's overall a/c systems; however, the graphics are surprisingly of low quality and  not-so-good technique (a big disappointment for those who demands  graphics of high quality.

They are  both not 100% complete; however, Aerosoft's A-320 is my a/c of choice it has all the systems I need to enjoy the a/c and the graphics are second to none !!!

-- FSL: We anticipate that it will be the most deeply simulated a/c for FSX plus/and  (if) they manage to come up with superb  graphics like Aerosoft; it will be the most advanced, complete, and beautiful a/c our eyes will see within FSX for the next many, many years to come. (So, we hope for the very best.)

However, should Aerosoft update their systems a bit more and/or BSS improve their graphics by at least 60%, we'ed had to fine machines !!!

Just want to note that the AXE can't do managed descends with high CI and overspeeds even with spoilers. Something that the BBS is doing right

I believe that with the next update (which seems to be SP1), the Airbus Extended will be the one to choose from. It's overall better than the BBS except for some (important) details which are being worked on.

Right now the BBS is the one to choose systems wise (Aerosoft's version has much better looks), but that's bound to change probably. Wait until Aerosoft releases SP1, then decide.

Every post on this thread will be highly personalized opinions, based on our own views and priorities for a 'bus.

Here's mine:-

I bought and own both products, and IMHO the Airbus X Extended is lightyears ahead of the BBS.  It's in a different league in terms of visuals, modelling, texturing, sound, features, additional immersion features, and (for me) reliability.

The AXE also has available a LUA script, which (in combination with FSUIPC) allows you to assign keys (and therefore hardware buttons too) to many functions, including all FCU functions.

With the BBS, you will be using mouse clicks for everything; something which really puts me off.    (this was true of v0.5 but I'm sure it hasn't changed).

I stopped installing the BBS A320 at 0.5 because for me, it will never be as good as the AXE.

Before anyone suggests that I am an 'Eye Candy' user; nothing is further from the truth.  The AXE has tons of systems modelling and systems coverage.   The BBS has more in some areas, but the other 'costs' are too high.    For 'normal operations' the AXE can simulate a full A320 line flight very realistically.

Actually BBS has improved significantly since v0.5

I have both. They are both worthy of having a detailed look at.

Could you please tell where to get these Lua scripts?  I have the throttle set but currently out of luck for various autopilot functions.

I honestly have both and I say the BBS A320 is better. Only one reason, The FBW functionality is not tied to your FPS. Past there, anything I have to say is Personal preference.

I really have no idea what to choose! At this rate ill be getting the FSL when it eventually comes.

IMHO I think I'd prefer BBS but the VC doesn't look as good.

BBS also has a full 2d cockpit if you're into that stuff. AXE doesn't.

Wait for the AXE SP1, really. It shouldn't be too far away and i guess and HOPE it'll fix the issues found on it. If it doesn't i'm done with it too...

My 2c worth, Airbus Extended.

Avoid the AXE at the moment.

It cannot follow procedures/approaches with radial interception or DME arcs. It can only do RNAV ones.

Suposively, they are going to fix in the upcoming v1.10 SP1 update.

But until they do - and thus deliver the aircraft as it should have been from the beginning (as advertised with "having LNAV") - avoid it.

I have the AXE and have been flying it quite happily without any major troubles. It a little disappointing how long they have taken over fixing it and coming up with SP1, but of course if it delivers all will be forgiven.

I don't have the BBS bus so can't comment on the product, but personally I would be worried that they have already according to their own statements ran out of money and had to release the A330 to get more capital. That money will run out soon enough as well and the question is what next? How many incomplete products will they have before they finally complete one and to what level.

I wish all the best for BBS but the accountant in me is wondering if they will last long enough to complete anything.
