Best joystick for fighter jets?

Featured Replies

Hi guys!

I am looking to buy an extra joystick for flying fighter jets. I already have a pro flight yoke with extra throttles and switch panel and pedals. Next to this, I have a VERY old thrustmaster joystick, from which I think is called "USB Game Joystick". I am looking to replace it for flying fighter jets. I am willing to buy something expensive such as the X-65f, but is it worth buying, or should I go for the X52 or X52 pro. Or maybe with the HOTAS Warthog? Which would you prefer? (If a make any purchase, should I buy the combat rudder pedals to replace my current standard rudder pedals?)

I guess the question is, which should I buy and should I buy rudder pedals specialized in combat?

Thanks!

P.S. I will mainly use it for FSX and maybe ARMA 3 in the future. (and I never use the A-10. I just use the VRS F-18, Aerosoft F-16, Dino Cattaneo F-35, IRIS F-22)

CH Products seems to produce some high-quality, simplistic joysticks (no twist rudder), although I have no personal experience with them. I don't think combat rudder pedals are absolutely necessary, especially if you already have pedals or have a tight budget.

Thank you! That gave some good information. I guess appearance wise, it is all up to me. However, it does show that the sensitivity of the Warthog is better. I personally like the appearance of the X-65f more and since it has pressure sensitivity, I am kind of leaning towards getting that one. I am really focusing on fighter jets with my purchase. By that I don't mean fast movers such as the A-10. I mean aircraft such as the F-22, F-35, F-18 and F-16. I really am just focusing on those aircraft. From looking at reviews, the pressure sensitivity of the X-65f is really appreciated and is great in fighter jets. However, I am seeing so many more people going for the HOTAS Warthog, that I have no clue which one to go for. For some reason though, I think the X-65f is more a joystick for me.

Based on what I just said, which of the two should I get?

I have a cougar HOTAS set that I'm looking to sell.

Will make you a good deal on it if you're interested.

No thank you. I'm really looking at the X-65F and the HOTAS Warthog. Thanks for the offer though

I am just looking for something realistic to modern day fighter jets, such as the f-16 f-22 and f-35. Those have non moving sticks with pressure sensing. So should I really go for the HOTAS Warthog?

FYI the cougar HOTAS is modeled after the F-16 to the infinite degree.

But it doesn't use force sensing. I want realistic experience, not for just one jet, but for a variety of modern fighters. Im kinda leaning towards the X-65F because it seems to be more my kind of stick. I also prefer the design.

Then that's the one to get, eh?

I guess. It seems kinda obvious. However, so many people are telling me to get the HOTAS Warthog. I want to know, what makes it better than the X-65F? Cause I have heard that lots of people prefer the force sensing.

HOTAS Warthog, nothing like it, it's simple the best.

+1
