August 15, 201213 yr How about the NGX @ FSDT KJFK w/Manhattan X, REXE (+ OD whenever it comes out), UT2, GEX, and UTX? All at 7680x1440. DX9 or DX10...... :Praying: After a long day, this just gave me the hardest laugh in a while... :LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO: :LMAO: Still noone answered my question. What is a 'slapping' or 'lapping' kit?
August 15, 201213 yr DX9 or DX10...... :Praying: Either way. I'll be switching to DX10 shortly (hopefully) if enough of the visual bugs are worked out. Just plunked down for Manhattan X & FSDT KJFK today, already have all the rest. My lapping kit + Liquid Pro should be arriving today or tomorrow, I'll get around to finishing up my build in the next week or two and then I can begin the final tweaking and testing of FSX.

Can you set AA in DX10 mode via nVidia Inspector? Regards, Efrain RuizLiveDISPATCH @ http://www.livedispatch.org (CLOSED) ☹️
August 15, 201213 yr While encoding a 2-hour 1080P video, burning a Blu-ray disc and Folding@Home... That's doable! Dunno how many cycles FAH would get, would probably want to set affinity there also. Probably one scenario a person could actually make use of six or more cores, though video encoding is still better with Quick Sync on Ivy Bridge, so unless you want to do the above while maintaining FAH PPD near maximum, I don't see the need for a six core even then. Note: I realize you were joking but I found it an interesting exercise nonetheless. Can you set AA in DX10 mode via nVidia Inspector? I haven't tried yet. With the resolution I run I don't think I'll need to either. The pixel density is so high it's like a super sized iPhone screen , AA isn't really needed at this res IMHO.

August 15, 201213 yr Can it play Crysis? Nope, it's Power PC instruction set architecture, Crysis only runs on x86. FSX also would not run.

September 5, 201213 yr Hi Efrain, How did you get the old TIM off the die after de-lidding? Second question for anyone who may have the answer. Just realized that the Corsair H100 needs two 120mm fan installation spots and therefore my Antec 900 case cannot accommodate my cooler. Is the H80 worthwhile? Is it almost as good as the H100? Is there any way of using the H100 in this case anyway?
September 5, 201213 yr Hi Efrain, How did you get the old TIM off the die after de-lidding? Paper towel. Maybe a bit of isopropyl alcohol on it. Second question for anyone who may have the answer. There's not a huge difference in performance between the two in the stock configuration, though the H80 uses higher speed fans so it's a bit noisier.
September 6, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Efrain, How did you get the old TIM off the die after de-lidding? Fingernail... Just scrape it with your fingernail. It comes right off, then you can clean it with some alcohol. Regards, Efrain RuizLiveDISPATCH @ http://www.livedispatch.org (CLOSED) ☹️
September 6, 201213 yr Cool stuff, first-class thread, Efrain. A few questions yet: 1) Where did you get your sandpaper from? I noticed you used 2000 and 3000 grades. Even FrozenCPU has only 2500 as the finest and local Home Depot may not have it when I'm visiting my daughter in NY. 2) What was the standard size of the sandpaper sheets that you used? Still thinking of where I can find the right grade and right size. 3) How did you lap the inner side of the IHS? Is it possible at all because of the cavity? Thanks, Dirk.
