August 29, 201213 yr Winds in some of the Weather Themes are just crazy! My Pilot Profile shows that my strongest crosswind has been 44 kts! :P And I did it in the Cub! I was observing the dirt effect while taxiing on a gravel strip and the dirt effect is affected by... the wind! That's a nice touch, isn't it? Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
August 29, 201213 yr Yep, this is one thing I love about flight that I wish were in FSX. Flight actually makes it tricky to keep the center line on the runway during a heavy crosswind, having to use both aileron and rudder to counteract the bank, whereas I find myself just using rudder to align myself in FSX during takeoff. Flight simulates takeoffs a lot better in my opinion. Though my main sim is FSX, I find myself using it for airliners only, and using Flight to review my pattern work and takeoff/landings. R. Dawson
August 29, 201213 yr It is! I had noticed that wind affected the smokestacks, so it makes sense the dust would be blown around too, but I never thought to check.
August 29, 201213 yr That looks like the airport where I got my highest crosswind landing, 68 kts. in the RV. I don't believe that would be possible in real life. Weather theme I used at the time was mixed weather. Thank you. August 29, 201213 yr These are features already in FSX. Or am I missing something? ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
August 29, 201213 yr The FSX forum? It was an honest question for those who are mature enough to answer it, as I can't test it on this laptop. Hence the "am I missing something?" In your attempt to look witty, you've come across as a tool. Of course 2,000+ post in a few months comes across as strange, too. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
August 29, 201213 yr 1. Your "mature" question is indistinguishable from the last six months of "FSX is better" trolling that has gone on here here. 2. I thought forums were for communicating. If you prefer lurking quietly, that's your choice. Participating is mine. 3. Childish name-calling? Real mature.

But your smart alec remark isn't constructive forum communication. Rather or not you consider that "participating". 3. Sucks when someone bites back, huh? *4. Still no attempt to answer. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
August 29, 201213 yr Weather theme I used at the time was mixed weather. Ya I've found that mixed weather offers me the highest possible wind, usually 68kts. I have a few saved freeflights in 68kts winds...it's super fun (and a bit of a joke) in the cub. nothing like flying backwards in a fixed wing!
August 29, 201213 yr 1. I apologize for that. Very well. 2. They are. But your smart alec remark isn't constructive forum communication. Rather or not you consider that "participating". It seems your interpretation of my remark may be less accurate than my interpretation of your own. 3. Sucks when someone bites back, huh? The hypocrisy of your behaviour is certainly amusing. *4. Still no attempt to answer. Sorry, I've passed my quota of FSX vs. Flight debates this month. Maybe somebody who posts less often can help you.
August 29, 201213 yr Sucks when someone bites back, huh? Grrr! Woof! Down boy! No one bit you Zach... :) I rather thought that FSX dust was also sensitive to wind direction, but I might well be wrong...
August 29, 201213 yr Calm down guys. No fighting please. Settle your dispute with PM's. Thanks. Thank you. Rick $Silver Donor EAA 1317610 I7-7700K @ 4.5ghz, MSI Z270 Gaming MB, 32gb 3200, Geforce RTX2080 Super O/C, 28" Samsung 4k Monitor, Various SSD, HD, and peripherals
August 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member If I recall, the windmills on Hawaii also face the wind. Flight is all about the little things. From the creaking of the control cables in the Stearman, to stuff like this. Kevin Miller 3D Artist and developer
