Rudder Pedals

Featured Replies

Evening,

Having been out of simulators/games for sometime I decided to get back in. Running OS X limits the choices so last week I ordered X-Plane 10 Global (I hope I ordered, the online system failed twice and called the number on the X-Plane page). I also ordered Saitek Cessna Yoke with throttle quad and the Cessna trim wheel and the yoke power adapter for the USB hub.

Still need to order rudder pedals and having some issues on which to get.

I do not have a PPL though that may change soon. I've flown several different aviation games, CFS, CFS3, Red Baron, Red Baron 3D, IL2 and several others through the years, all on PC based systems.

My day job is a web programmer in the real estate industry and I also do photography for fun.

While my past was playing fighter sims up to and including the Korean War (F-86 junkie), I plan on using XP 10 for GA as I decide if a PPL is in my future.

If anyone can give me some direction on the rudder pedals it would be much appreciated. Also any add-ons that will make XP 10 more enjoyable. Yes, I plan on updating the video card, probably to a ATI Radeon 5770 because it is shown to work in my system.

Thanks,

Welcome Tony!

Saitek here.

Dave Hodges

System Specs:  I9-13900KF, NVIDIA 4070TI, Quest 3, Multiple Displays, Lots of TERRIFIC friends, 3 cats, and a wonderfully stubborn wife.

I have had the CH rudders and now have the saitek combat pedals. I prefer the saiteks as they are slighly wider and not quite so prone to accidentally applying rudder as the CH move so easily. I found just by relaxing my legs I might apply rudder, an iddue I dont have with the saiteks.

Hello Tony,Welcome  I would agree with the above,The Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals are fantastic,Very comfortable and Durable. As far as Addons go,check these guys out for quality products for X-Plane.

Hi folks,

Ordered the Saitek Cessna Pro Rudder Pedals this morning. The regular Pro pedals were cheaper but on Amazon the place selling them had no feedback and the Cessna Pro Pedals are sold and shipped by Amazon. :)

Now thinking of upgrading the aging ATI 2600 for the ATI Radeon HD 5770. Currently framerates in the Demo are just barely under 20 fps and I'm thinking with the 5770 I can get those up to 40 at the same settings I have now if not higher.

Being on OS X does limit some things but I'm not about to give up the investment in this system and there are not a lot of general flight sims available like there once was.

People's thoughts on the ATI Radeon 5770?

Thanks,

Since posting earlier today I've done some research. What was I thinking when I said 40 fps. It seems my system should be able to get ~100 fps with a ATI Radeon HD 5770. Shows you how long it has been since I did a flight sim because back then 40 fps was considered very good. :)

Now to talk myself in to the 5770.

Thanks,

If you're getting 100fps you dont have enough eye candy turned up. I wouldnt get 100fps on a single screen with a 7970 and a 4.5ghz i5 I dont think.

Well I'm not getting that yet. My ATI 2600 can generally get 19fps. Searching the web and viewing YouTube for people with similar rigs to mine report ~102fps in x-plane. So if I dialed up the eye candy and still got 50 or 60 fps that would be great. Parting with nearly $300 is the hard part. :D

Might I ask a question as to "why" this was moved from General to Tips and Tricks?

Thank you kindly,

Yes. A lot of people look for tips on the best rudder pedals to use with X-Plane. Instead of them perusing the General discussion forum that can get quite lengthy, they can look there and immediately see the Subject: Rudder Pedals.

Best regards,

Hi Tony,

Why don't you post again about your FPS and start a discussion about upgrading your video card? As you can see, this is a completely different subject from the Rudder Pedals discussion. I think you got a very satisfactory response. Try to limit your posts to one area and not add several different items in one discussion. I want posters to try to stay on topic. It makes it easier for people to find information they desire. A lot of good info is being buried in unrelated posts. Hope you understand.

Best regards,

Jim
