Need An FSX Default File

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Short of re-installing FSX , is there anyway I can get a copy of the FSX default Beechcraft King Air 350 file which I stupidly damaged ?

If not, how about downloading a copy of the 350 Gauge file ? (if there was a separate one in the folder)

Appreciate your help.

you could try a reapir install but, if you know the file, look on the CD in the CAB files and extract it manually.

Thanks for the tip, Vic. Unfortunately, I don't know the file name and there are tons of them listed.

Best to do the repair then because it's a copyrighted file so nobody can legally send it to you or make it available for download.

If you do the repair and it works you won't have to reinstall. It will fix what is missing.

How did you damage it if you don't mind my asking?

Daveo, perhaps 'damage' is a misnomer, but I have holes in the King Air panel where the airspeed indicator and the altimiter are located. The problem gets compounded because other aircraft panels are aliased to the King Air panel. I'm not sure, but I'm assuming some gauge files might be missing .

There is a command you can put in fsx.cfg that will force FSX to show you the names files that are called for but are missing. I'd tell you the command but I don't remember it ATM and am not at home to look it up.

Look in the panel.cfg file - all the gauge names are listed. Find the altimeter and the name of the gauge file is there. Then look for that in the cab files - or do a repair install.

The file you are looking for is KingAir.dll in the FSX Gauges folder, it is a 4 meg file.
