September 13, 201213 yr Cone Island? Did somebody say Cone Island? Great! And it gives me a chance to visit Pedro Bay again - love that place. B) Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
September 13, 201213 yr Author Well Gee, that was fun. I was going to collect the cache shortly after making this post but when I loaded Flight, I was greeted with "Microsoft Flight has detected a corrupt installation and will close now". What in blazes are you talking about? Worked fine yesterday. And, every day before. Now you tell me I'm corrupt. Not very nice. So, in answer I immediately rebooted my system, loaded Flight, and was met with the same greeting, but not in the same place or manner this time. I was allowed to load my RV at Pedro Bay and get airborne then whammy, lock up. What was I to do now, I pondered. I know, I'll reboot again. That should do it. Nope, same greeting. Did a restore to an earlier time. This should fix it. Again, NOPE. This is getting frustrating. After many attempts at restoring, rebooting, and reloading Flight without success, I decided my only alternative was to download and reinstall. Oh the pain and misery. I wasn't looking forward to d/l'ing a 1.8gb file tonight. Being the persistent fellow that I am, I relented and started the d/l and installation process. It finished just minutes before my wife was due home. To add to the misery, we were supposed to go look at bathroom fixtures for a small remodel I'm starting. Drat. Now I don't know if my problem is solved. So in danger of facing the wrath of my wife, I booted Flight. After a couple of minimizing to desktop events controlled solely by Flight, I got it to run. I still had my DLC, and my Pilot's Profile looked right. Question now was do I go after the cache or not? What would any red-blooded card carrying man/pilot do? Why go for it of course. So, off I went. Luckily, I knew where Cone Island was as I had been there before. After a 15 or so minute flight, I neared the peak of said volcano and there was the golden object of my search. I flew threw it, got the musical notes confirming I had collected it, (but interestingly, no little acknowledgement box in the lower right). I then circled back around the island looking for a relatively flat spot to land, found a nice grassy one, and landed the RV perfectly. My RV still sits there. I exited free flight and immediately checked my aerocache hunt screen to verify that I had indeed collected the cache and sure 'nuff, It said I had. With this I exited the sim, gathered up the wife, and headed out a bit more relieved than an hour before. Now we'll just have to see what tomorrow brings. Thank you. September 14, 201213 yr How can you be complaining about downloading Flight just once? I have to redownload Flight every other day because of the corrupted install problems. I've missed lots of aerocaches because of this.
September 14, 201213 yr Cone Island, got it! Finally one I did not already have. I have only had one install problem, still don't know what caused it. Reinstalled and never had another problem, knock on wood.
September 14, 201213 yr Steve, that is one big airplane! Looks good. Best regards. Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
September 14, 201213 yr Steve, that is one big airplane! Looks good. Best regards. Luis It is fun, and can get in and out of some surprisingly small fields. just wish it had a cockpit, I will take what I can get at this point!
September 14, 201213 yr Well Gee, that was fun. I was going to collect the cache shortly after making this post but when I loaded Flight, I was greeted with "Microsoft Flight has detected a corrupt installation and will close now". I've had this happen to me several times in the last couple of weeks. If I shut down Flight and started it again, it would pop up again. To correct it so far, I go to my Internet Options and delete my browsing history, then I run CCleaner, then reboot my computer, start Flight and all is good again. It seem to happen after I have put my computer to sleep then awaken it. I have know idea as to what is causing it. I also was able to get Cone Island this time. J. R.
September 14, 201213 yr Crap! After a busy day I just came in to get the aerocache, only to find out that I don't have Alaska installed on my laptop (desktop isn't working). :t0105:
September 14, 201213 yr Author I had only had this happen once before very early in the life of Flight. I rebooted my system, and all has been perfect up until yesterday. I'm pretty good about backing up my career folder too but this time it didn't solve the problem. It's fixed now and I hope it stays that way. Thank you. September 14, 201213 yr I always make regular backups of my career folder, I figure that is probably why I have never had an issue, if I were to stop undoubtedly then it would all go to crap lol. Don B
September 21, 201213 yr Well, this is odd. I hadn't logged into Flight for several days, for various reasons, but tonight I made time for myself. When I went to see if I'd already gotten the current AOTD (Listening Carefully - Yay! I don't have it yet!) I also found Cone Island at the top of the "All Aerocaches" list (also not yet retrieved). Hmmm... It's there when I filter by "All," but not when I filter by "Alaska." So now I guess I have two to hunt down tonight. - Peter C http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bob_and_Ray_Show
September 21, 201213 yr Author I noticed that Cone Island was listed on the in-game list also. I guess it was supposed to be one for Alaska. Perhaps there will be more. Thank you.
