September 30, 201213 yr Author To everyone!! Ya got that right my freind "old stuttern Les" LOL!! Well I have some good news for everyone. The Video is finnally done @ 11:55PM CST Iowa time. I hope everyone will enjoy it because it is a tribute to everyone that has been involved in DX10 a huge thanks to them and the ones to follow that will contribute to this great sport of enjoying a great flight sim!! I am going to take tomorrow off of this computer and I then will be uploading this Waco Hawii HD to YouTube on Monday. This has been fun and I almost can fly this route around Honnalulu with my eyes closed and some might say it looked like I was doing just that. Just kicks; you will take off from PHNL and fly by Diamond Head, Hulla Bowl (don't know the stadiums name) then Pearl Harbor Memorial and fly right over Whitman Field where it all happened; then on past Battle Ship Row and the back to PHNL. The scenery is photo real Hawaii that PC Aviators own and sell. The roadways and roads etc. are Ground Enviroment USA and Ultimate Terrain USA. which I had no issues with DX10. I will leave a message when I get it up and ready for viewing... GOOD NIGHT AND SLEEP WELL MY FELOOW SIMMERS!! :yahoo: Les lh
September 30, 201213 yr Author Hello Everyone! :yahoo: I now have the video up on the Video forum and this is tthe link to the video. Now you can hit until the cows come home and no one will ban it. in fact the more hits there are the better the video will stay on the top or near the top? When I viewed it the quality wasn't the best unless you run it in 1080 or highest etting on YouTube. It took me 276 minutes to upload the 19:14 minute video so enjoy and please let me know what the quality was for you and alo the content of the video. Talk later and have a great flight around Honalulu, Hawaii. Les http://forum.avsim.net/topic/386913-photo-real-hawaii-dx10/ lh
September 30, 201213 yr Hi Les, Great video for sure but do you have 'Aircraft casts shadows on self' turned on? I didn't see any shadows inside the cockpit for the sun and it looked like a sunny day and that must be on to see shadows inside the cockpit! I enjoyed the video though with full screen on my 30 inch monitor. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! September 30, 201213 yr Commercial Member Awesome vid, Les! Quick tip though... Edit your OP and place the new link there. From a user experience POV, if links on the OP don't work, most people will just leave the thread and move on. Regards, Efrain RuizLiveDISPATCH @ http://www.livedispatch.org (CLOSED) ☹️
October 1, 201213 yr Author Hi Les, Great video for sure but do you have 'Aircraft casts shadows on self' turned on? I didn't see any shadows inside the cockpit for the sun and it looked like a sunny day and that must be on to see shadows inside the cockpit! I enjoyed the video though with full screen on my 30 inch monitor. Best regards, Jim HI JIM, I checked FSX for Aircraft Casts Shadows On Self and that is turned on. When I went to the outside view there were shadows on the fuselage and as I turned the Waco the shadows moved according to the sun light. The vid was shot completely from the cockpit. I also checked the shadow on the seat as I rotated the plane on the ground and there were no shadows on the seat, only a slight color change in the seat as I rotated the plane in a circle on the ground. Now I loaded the stock Cesnna 172 an there were shadows on the seats and inside the cabin, so the shadows are working. I neve did have shadows on the cockpit of the Waco. Do you have shadows on your Waco seat and cockpit? Les lh
October 1, 201213 yr Steve is working on darkening the shadows externally, and reducing the bloom glare inside the cockpit at this moment, Les. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 1, 201213 yr Author Paul, Thanks for the information on the shader. In his email he didn't give a time frame, did he have one for the release? When flying your Waco do you have the shadows in your cockpit? Les lh
October 1, 201213 yr Don't know, Les - I don't see why not, but my shadow testing has only been to verify the external ground shadows and jaggy shadow edges using about six aircraft - none using the Waco (not released at that time), the internal shadowing using the B55 and C172, with the C172 testing bloom reduction and darker external shadowing a day ago. I'll check again later for you using the Waco. Cheers, pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 1, 201213 yr I can confirm, Les - there is no apparent shadowing to be seen on any part of the aircraft from within the rear cockpit. If one moves to the external spot view, then all parts of the aircraft - including pilot and cockpit are properly shadowed. I can only assume that Alabeo considers this to be for DX9 users only.. or this is a mistake in their development process. Does anyone know if Alabeo has a forum? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 1, 201213 yr I do not have the Waco Les so I can't comment on whether they work. Open cockpits get me scared.... Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! October 1, 201213 yr I posted a request for more information just after the above post, asking why shadowing would be included in the external view, but ignored/broken? in the internal view. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
October 2, 201213 yr Author Hi Everyone, I have a question for the Avsim Guru's. Now visualize a horinzontal line on your monitor screen that isn't there until you move your hat switch or mouse cursor up and down vertically on the screen. The line looks like a heat wave on the screen as you move up and down on tbe screen, stop moving and the line stops and disapears. The video is wavy on the line and the line is a very thin line. What to you think it couldd be? I don't think it is tareing, because tareing is a large line like a rip in the video? Vsync wouldn't have anything to do with this would it? I had that at 1/2 and changed it to Forced on and that made no differnce. I'm lost as normal! Les lh
October 2, 201213 yr Not an expert but sounds like your 'scene' is trying to catch up and render when you move up/down rapidly and a memory rendering issue. A setting in your display driver or an FSX.cfg setting/tweak or the location and aircraft you are flying would cause this. Return your display driver settings to the FSX default and see if it continues or save your FSX.cfg to fsx.orig and run with fsx default settings and see if the problem still exists (here is where I really think the problem is located; I'm not a fan of tweaks). If it didn't fix the issue, then you can rename the saved .orig back to fsx.cfg. I just tried to duplicate your issue (if it's an issue) and could not duplicate.
