REX Essential Plus

What is the difference between REX2 and REX Overdrive?

I am setting up my new computer and just loaded REX2 without the Overdrive, so I could try Essential (which is loading now).

Yes you can, but I would wait for our upgrade, because of the fixes and enhancements.

But what is the big difference between the "Overdrive" and regular REX2?

I can just uninstall it and replace it with Overdrive when you release it. I couldn't stand not seeing what Essential was. It took a little time, but it wasn't very hard to install.

I think Overdrive just gives you an extended range of textures to choose from, though I'm not totally sure.

Having come from REX2 OD to Essentials, I have to say Essentials is superb!

Now since I don't use the weather engine (IVAO flying) , Essential has brought me the nice ligthening sound but nothing much else... i don't find difference in the clouds and ground textures..... unless i missed something.

too much, too soon....

I have been looking around for the "Plus" update to Essentials, and I can't find it anywhere on their sight, can someone point me to where to find it?

I must be missing it also. But that's no great revelation :)

REX 2 has about 4 gigs of textures. Overdrive (Free upgrade) is about 13 gigs of more textures and many of them are HD - more detailed.

In REX Essential Plus we now have a download center in which we will be adding new textures, effects, etc, for users to download that go beyond what is in REX and REX Overdrive.

Thank you for your kind words.

It has not been released yet. We will announce the release date when we get the final word to go to RTM.

Yesterday I loaded up my FS9 for the first time in at least a year. In the Seattle area, Next to the much lower quality ground textures as I started flying the big difference was the very noticable low definition clouds.

I love the REX OD HD cloud textures they are so real you feel like you could touch them.

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally! I've been waiting to install REX since I built this new computer 6 MONTHS AGO.

We are sorry the wait has been so long. But we needed the time to get things ready for the new features. Now that everything is in place simple updates will be quick to pass along if needed. We have some really exciting news in regards to both products coming up that will announced before release. Stay tuned!!!

I understand. Thanks for taking the time to make sure it's done right, and for the fantastic free updates!
