September 27, 201213 yr I have just bought this package with 2 dvd and I read that it is necessary to activate the game trough the internet. I have bought a new pc capable of playing this game and it that will be delivered next week. This evening, upon registrering in this forum, I have read an article that Microsoft has ended support for fsx from September 18th. So, the question is: Is it still possible to activate fsx via internet next week or not?? I was going to buy a good joytick and pedals but I am wondering if it will be lost money if I can not activate fsx. I have tried to find in Microsoft sites any indications on this issue but could not find any clear reply. If activation by microsoft is no longer available, are any other alternatives??? In the dvd box I have the original codes for the dvd's but in the manual it says that internet or phone activation is necessary. By the way, I am living in Europe and not in the USA/Canada. Would appreciate all help on this matter. I have been saving money to be able to buy a new, fast pc in order to play fsx and now this surprise...... thanks in advance for replies
September 27, 201213 yr I just reinstalled FSX and Acceleration and activated both over the internet.
September 27, 201213 yr I have just bought this package with 2 dvd It would seem somewhat senseless to sell it if you cant activate it? Here's you brand new car. But you can't start it.
September 27, 201213 yr Yes, activation still works. Just type in the 20 character code when asked to. Come back here if you have any problems. No doubt someone will be able to help. Mike Dryden
September 27, 201213 yr It would seem somewhat senseless to sell it if you cant activate it? What makes you think a retailer would be aware if MS activation servers are still alive or not?
September 27, 201213 yr What makes you think a retailer would be aware if MS activation servers are still alive or not? I AM sure they would here about it rather quickly as most offer no hassle returns! Besides, if and when that were to occur, it would be pulled from the shelves. Ive seen it many, many times over the yrs. Plain and simple, this activation thing has been beat to death with the announcement of MS ending support. Its a non issue for the at least, near future.
September 27, 201213 yr Just did this on Saturday.. Worked Great!! NorthLink VA - Commerce & Community in Northern North America!
September 27, 201213 yr Same here. Just re-installed FSX a few days ago and was able to re-activate over internet. No problems. Working my way through all the add-ons now  Kind Regards Simon.
September 27, 201213 yr What makes you think a retailer would be aware if MS activation servers are still alive or not? Because..even Microsoft is still selling it...as a download from their Marketplace or as a Disk set from their stores.
September 27, 201213 yr The activation servers are still up and running. However, according to the license agreement, Microsoft has the right to stop online services whenever they please. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
September 27, 201213 yr Because..even Microsoft is still selling it...as a download from their Marketplace or as a Disk set from their stores. Which has nothing to do. The point is the OP question is perfectly valid.
November 5, 201213 yr I've just done the dance but following the re-install of FS-X, and its successful activation, there was no request to activate the Acceleration Pack when that went in, so I am stuck with just fifteen minutes of usage before I'm asked to buy it...again. Is there a way around this? Frustrating as I've already spent many happy hours with FS-X. November 9, 201213 yr An addition to my recent post. On booting up I'm presented with a pop-up that tells me that activation cannot be completed owing to an " Error Code 8-c0000006 ". On advice I've Google'd for Application Activation help, have downloaded and substituted in the appropriate folder the three 'dll' files but that hasn't helped at all. Such substitution has resulted in my not even being able to see that pop-up...a retrograde step. So I've replaced the original 'dll' files. So I'm stuck. I'm wondering whether to simply buy a new Activation Pack. Any helpful thoughts, folks? November 9, 201213 yr Re: Acceleration activation, Not that this is happening to you, but in the past I've seen (at times, not always) that if you install FSX, install Acceleration, then launch and activate, it will only prompt for the FSX keys, and you won't see the Acceleration activation window. Just upgraded to Windows 8 / new HDDs, and last night I re-installed FSX, launched and activated, then did a short flight, exited, installed Acceleration, launched and activated, and did a longer flight. All worked as expected. I would uninstall Acceleration, reinstall, and see if the activation window appears on launch.
November 9, 201213 yr Thank you...I have tried that route already but, before giving up on this copy I'll give that re- install a try. CPU Intel core i5 6600K RAM. 16GB dual channel M'board ASUSTek Z170 Pro Gaming CPU Nvidia GeFoce GTX980 Storage 335 GB Corsair Force GS SSD with Win 10 Pro 64-bit.
