October 3, 201213 yr Right, Set Level 2 AutoBrake, she lands and brakes fine, I take over manually breaking after 60kts and when I switched the Auto Brake to the OFF position, she slams the brakes on until I step on the Rudder Pedals, Im not using a button to do this just my mouse...so if can't be FSUIPC...any ideas, really annoying when Im looking for the AB and trying to look at Traffic too Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
October 3, 201213 yr I have a problem but it is the opposite of yours, my autobraking system will not work, the light doesn't even illuminate. -Jeremy Chesney Regards, Jeremy Chesney
October 3, 201213 yr Ron - probably won't help find your answer, but when are you turning the autobrakes off? Jason *** Disclaimer: Any resemblence of my views & tech advice to reality are purely coincidental. No living beings or real aircraft where harmed in the making. ***
October 3, 201213 yr You don't need to switch it to the off position to take over manual braking. Rather just apply manual braking to the sufficient pressure, and the autobrakes will be de-activated automatically. Just remember to flip the switch to off when you get to the gate or something. Thanks Matthew T Gardiner
October 3, 201213 yr Like Matthew said, just take over the brakes by manual braking without switching the autobrakes off. Now another beginners question from my side: how are the manual brakes applied in the real plane? Is that by moving both rudderpedals away from you? I ask this because now I have a joystick button assigned to the brakes, but that is either on or off, and I would like to apply a specific amount of brakes instead of full or none. October 3, 201213 yr Commercial Member I just retract the spoilers, which will kick it off. That allows me to use the remaining speed to coast to the next turnoff and brake closer in. Then again, as mentioned by the others, I just kick the brakes manually in other cases in order to make a particular exit. Depends on the situation. Both methods will kick the autobrakes off without touching the switch. That way, after exiting the runway, you can deal with it as you clean the aircraft up. Kyle Rodgers

October 3, 201213 yr Author Ok, I kick the pedals to turn the AB off, works fine, after I retart the Speedbrake my FS2Crew F/O automatically start his flow anmd turns the AB to the OFF position, when he does this it slams on the brake, and does it even when I do it, something is wrong here. I ask this because now I have a joystick button assigned to the brakes, but that is either on or off, and I would like to apply a specific amount of brakes instead of full or none. Some joysticks have a sort of pressure detection in the trigger itself. I know my X52 has a "2 position" mechanism on the trigger. Lightly and it will apply a small amount of braking, whilst a full press will apply maximum braking. I'm not sure if that's entirely true of course, but it seems to work in my world. Also just to clarify on the pushing the rudder pedals away from you, that's not strictly true. Yes manual braking is activated by pushing on the rudder pedals, but they actually pivot at the top to apply the brakes. So pushing on the bottom of the pedals will do nothing for you. They are basically toe brakes, so you press on the top of the pedals to pivot them away from you. This is why when landing a real aircraft, you should always have your heels to the floor so you don't accidentally force resistance on the mains when touching down. That wouldn't be a pleasant experience otherwise. Thanks Matthew T Gardiner
October 3, 201213 yr Author The problem is not braking with my feet (and disabling the AB), its the fact that when I turn the AB to OFF from 2 or 3 or my F/O (FS2Crew) turns it off during his After Landing check...my brakes slam on full, its not the parking brake either, its the toe brakes...even though Im still breaking with my feet.
