October 3, 201213 yr What is a good (user or developer supported) AI (freeware or payware) for FS9.1? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
October 3, 201213 yr Here is a good place to start- http://www.world-of-ai.com/index.php regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
October 3, 201213 yr Author Joe, Thanks for the link. I see World of AI is for FS9 and FSX. I already have My Traffic X installed for FSX. Will I be able to get World of AI installed for just FS9 ... in other words, it would not attempt to install automatically into my FSX and mess up My Traffic X? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
October 3, 201213 yr It really depends on where you live, but for Russia for example, there is more decent AI with more airlines from Russia, which is the Russian AI Traffic system. However as you seem to live in the US, I would recommend to install world of ai, but of course some additional airlines which World of AI doesn't provide, all this stress is worth it, believe me : ) You can install world of AI for FS9 only, and as far as I know it won't mess up My Traffic. World of Ai is miles better than any payware anyway.
October 3, 201213 yr Author OK, Thanks for the additional follow up. I will go see what to do to get it installed into FS9.1. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW

Yes, as tupolev280 said, you can install WoAI into FS9 without fear of it touching your FSX install. One thing you need to be aware of is that FS9 and FSX use slightly different formats for the traffic files. FS9 files will work in FSX. However, you cannot use both formats in FSX at the same time. If you try to do so, you will see the FS9 traffic, but not the FSX traffic. I say this for your benefit should you like the WoAI (most do) and want to use it in FSX, which you can. You will need to convert the files and that is not too hard. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.

Do you think WofAI for FSX would be more up to date/realistic than My Traffic X (purchased package). Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
October 4, 201213 yr In feature fix update post : This has all come about because of our owners and I wanted to take this opportunity to let our FS9 owners know that when the team start on their next project it will include an FS9 version you will not be forgotten. So maybe just me putting 7 and 4 together to come up with 3? Jon. Is this from World of AI or My Traffic? Or any other company? I'll be interested to know as I still use FS9.
October 6, 201213 yr I use the freeware version of mytraffic. Not the best looking but the most planes. Jim CYWG
October 7, 201213 yr I'm running parallel FS9/FSX setups, with Just Flight's TrafficX for FSX and World of AI for FS9. I did try the recently freeware'd My Traffic 2006, for FS9, but I've switched back to WOAI. I had some problems with My Traffic's AFCAD files clashing with other scenery, plus the WOAI schedules are a little more recent than those in MT2K6, but they're still typically a couple of years old. The downside of WOAI is that you have to download each airline individually. But that does mean that you can tailor it by only installing the airlines for the airports you visit, and once you've populated 2 or 3 airports, adding new airports tends to be a job of "filling in the gaps" with only half a dozen or so new airlines. Neither WOAI nor the My Traffic 2006 installation interfered with the FSX installation in any way. October 7, 201213 yr Author I am also now using WOAI for FS9 now. I like it alot. And I find, as you mentioned "But that does mean that you can tailor it by only installing the airlines for the airports you visit, and once you've populated 2 or 3 airports, adding new airports tends to be a job of "filling in the gaps" with only half a dozen or so new airlines.", is actually a good thing ... Where do the WOAI aircraft models get their "sounds" from? ?... I did not notice any sound files in the downloads. Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
October 7, 201213 yr ai traffic doesn't have any custom sounds, they sound sometimes different but most of the time they load up default sounds. it's a pity because it would be interesting if every single plane had different sound. Turboprops, jet airplanes, props have different sounds from my experience in FS2004
October 7, 201213 yr Author Where do the sounds come from ... like from a special file ? ... how to tell which sound is being used ? Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
October 7, 201213 yr AI sounds come from .wav files in ...\FS9\Sound. The files have names beginning with ai_ and xai_. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
October 7, 201213 yr I think it's sometimes random choosen, because sometimes when I see AI there's a really loud AI Tu-154, but then another AI Tu-154 is very quiet like if it has another sound file.
