October 6, 201213 yr With the H100, there is little cooling performance difference when running your fans at max vs running the fans at idle. The H100 is silent for me and temps are in the high 50s and low 60s at max load. That sounds good Ben, thanks! October 6, 201213 yr That sounds good Ben, thanks! Just be sure to get an Asus board so you can use the AI Suite Tools.
October 6, 201213 yr Author My rig will have an Asus Z77 in it, so no worries there. I also heard Asus mobo's come oc'd, is that true? ORBX- the way to go Sincerely, John McGee
October 6, 201213 yr Just be sure to get an Asus board so you can use the AI Suite Tools. I've been using ASUS quite awhile, ABIT before them. Right now I use a dual-boot configuration and isolate them in the BIOS. I use one OS install at preset at default clock speed, memory, FSB and use it for general computing and a rare game, and the other OS is over clocked and is dedicated to FSX. There are probably better ways to do it but this does work well for me and is pretty easy to change, though not very elegant! For my next machine I plan to use a larger high end SDD and create two partitions and do dual boot that way. Then maybe ASUS tools will be good eh? October 6, 201213 yr I also heard Asus mobo's come oc'd, is that true? No. What ASUS has is "TurboV EVO" which is part of the A.I. suite. You run it... let it do its thing (bumps voltages, tests... a few iterations of this... a reboot). I let it run completely and it oc'd an 3770k to 4.8 that passed an IBT x 10 run. Then you can save this as a profile if you wish. (too simple... ASUS needs to make it harder and more mysterious than just a couple mouse clicks). There is at least one youtube vid of ASUS's J.J. Guerrero demonstrating this on the Z77 mb. -Rob
October 6, 201213 yr TURBO V EVO Can it be used for Asus Max Extreme IV aswell? Download link pls. Thks http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
October 6, 201213 yr Here's where I went Megs : http://usa.asus.com/Motherboards/ (note the usa thingy) X79? Z77?.... just pick the correct socket then board type... under Downloads choose your OS then turbo evo is part of the a.i. suite (under utilities) I caught a blurb somewhere about a.i. suite being a resource hog... might not want to run it (kill the systray thingy) once you set up your oc. Or at least google / find out more.
October 6, 201213 yr A word on ASUS auto tune. When I run auto tune it likes to spike my vCore beyond 1.5v...A lot in fact. That did not sit well with me. To learn to OC myself I watched some OC vids on YouTube for my setup, read articles on OC'ing, and browsed the OC'ing forums. No auto tune for me any more. I run an H100 and it can handle an LGA2011 very well when OC'ing to 4.8Ghz. I think the Antec got an equally good review but either solution seems good if you are serious about water cooling. October 6, 201213 yr A word on ASUS auto tune. When I run auto tune it likes to spike my vCore beyond 1.5v...A lot in fact. That did not sit well with me. Mine worked out well... 4.8 @ something like 1.36v for the 3770k (got it apart right now so I can't check). But yeah... one should pay attention and know max temps / volts.
