i7 3770k @ 5ghz - FSX experience

Featured Replies

Thank you. Is this relation constant in terms of different scenarios. To be more precise, does this mean that I7 3770k FPS advantage is the same regardless I fly default Cessna over default scenery, or flying 737 NGX over ORBX PNW, landing to KSEA?

The man to answer this is Word Not Allowed

Cheers

Hi @Westman !,

I see your benchmark´s are always done with 2666mhz ram speed. How much avg-fps would you loose with a more common 1600 or 1866mhz ram ?

I ask you because I'am a about to buy faster ram for my Ivy @4.8 but I don´t want to spend that $$$ for just 2-3 fps more !

Thank you !

If i rember right its just 2fps or 200mhz on the cpu but evrything adds.

if running Word Not Allowed tweaks vsynk 30fps, i head plenty of headroom , for examle the time that you have less than 30fps and if you have a min fps of 21 my can be 26fps and no stutters.

as a rule of thumb, add a 1% for every extra 100MHz of RAM speed. So Going from 1600 to 2666MHz would boost your FPS by a 10-11% give or take

Thank you guys, I think 2133mhz is a good money/performance compromise.

Ok, I pushed my Ivy a little more and the result is: while @4.9 it needs 1.4 Vcore to run stable, @5.0 1.5 Vcore ! Is there anything to adjust the other V-settings so I could decrease the Vcore a little ? My temperatures are good below 80° in Prime95 (thank´s again to TechMaxGuy´s de-iddeling guide).

My question is: How will 1.5v affect the CPU-Lifespan ? AFAIK the Intel recommended max. is 1.52v.

Wish i had the answer, i feel confortable with 1.45-1.48 long term but time Will tell, if the IB handle

1.5-1.55v long term i def raise My clock but dont like to be one of the first to run it and se that it shortens

The liftime of CPU 90-95% can take 50%

I notice you guys are using Prime95 and IBT for stress testing Ivybridge.

Worth mentioning... Asus advise against Prime and IBT. Asus say that they are not validated for Ivybridge and don't fully test all of the Ivybridge parameters. Asus also claim you are more llikely to damage Ivybridge with Prime and IBT.

Asus recommend AIDA64.

Asus rep comments. 04:03 into the video.

Yes , they ar probaly right , i dont like IBT Prime95 they ar Very hard on the CPU

i like ADIA64 both for stress tests and mem bench ,

Its something Strange with FSX when running Adia stresstest and have it stable for 2 -3 hours it can

Be unstable in FSMark11 its ok when back the clock 100mhz

Kind Regards Hasse

I have an Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe, 3700K and Dominator ram ready to install. It will be interesting to see how far I can overclock. I think I'll be quiet satisfied with 4.6 to 4.8, but we shall see.

Cooling with an NH D14, will install two Noctua NF-F12's, but might try the new H100i or Kraken when it's available.

Do you use Cinebench for stress testing Hasse?

My favoriter is AIDA64, then i test with prime and IBT i feel confortable with them à also run superpi for fun.

I like to play with the mems try to get the higest speed thats more for fun , get 2974mhz out of My favorite mems

The memcontroller couldent handle more with à better CPU they do +3000mhz

Yeah I made a post regarding this some weeks ago... but I thought it was Prime and OCCT (not IBT).

Aha... just listened again the vid and J.J. pronounce it "lynx" like the cat (I would have thought like "lyn-ex" instead of "links"). Probably best to stick to AIDA (old habits die hard).

I would have bought that Dom. Platinum some months ago... but wasn't offered iirc for 2666 (2x4) -- and now 2800 2x4 available.

Thanks Martin.
