Is there a way to use multiple computers to run P3d?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if there is a way to use multiple computers to run Prepar3d, such that each takes on a different load. For example, one computer only processes ground scenery while another computer everything else, and the result is output to the same monitor.

I was wondering if there is a way to use multiple computers to run Prepar3d, such that each takes on a different load.

Hello

From the Prepar3D website, which is a great place to find out everything about P3D

What’s New in Prepar3D

Lockheed Martin continuously evolves Prepar3D to maintain its place as a front runner in the modeling and simulation marketplace. The latest features and functions available in Prepar3D include:

  • New user interface – Users now have a Windows 7 compatible drag n’ drop interface with customizable settings. Quickly create and save your favorite missions.
  • Multiple monitor settings saved – Users can quickly save panel and scenery window locations across multiple monitors with flight files. Prepar3D remembers the settings upon restarting a flight and restarting Prepar3D.
  • Internet multi-player capability – Users across the globe can collaborate with others within the Prepar3D environment to train for their missions or tasks.
  • Multi-channel capability – Users can harness the power of this new feature to operate Prepar3D with multiple computers creating a more expansive viewing capability all the way up to 360 degrees field of view.

I noticed that as well. l looked around and didn't see much else explaining it, so I'm a bit confused how it would actually work (also since I haven't seen any settings for it in the program itself). Ideally, I'd like to take some of the load off my main computer and put a second computer to work.

Using simconnect you can have multiple computers run the graphics. One computer/One monitor. I would think it would be outrageous expensive. If you look in the learning center they explain the procedure under Multi Channel.

Could be expensive depending on your budget as I believe it does require a seperate copy of P3D for each PC. I was seriously considering this for my set-up, having three PC's, three displays, each one showing a Left-Center-Right view. But this was based on my experience using FSX.

With P3D I am getting such good performance I do not need to drop $5-6K for additional hardware. I can run right now three 27" displays in Nvidia Surround of one pc/two 580 GPUs with great results. Now I do have a 2nd PC that will run my weather, follow maps, GPS, etc., which will help put much of the workload externally. And I have a small 12" touchscreen on that 2nd PC for external gauges or whatever.

But I could see if you are running a full wrap-around system for work or school, it would be prudent to go the multi-PC route.

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

Now I do have a 2nd PC that will run my weather, follow maps, GPS, etc., which will help put much of the workload externally.

That's what many of us are doing with great success.

... Clutch, are you running on Full screen mode or window mode, can you setup 5 monitors on the 2 GPUs ??? I'm trying to figure out what will the best configuration to get panoramic view.

Cheers

Download the SDK, it is free and it explains how to hook multiple computers. But you will need an individual P3D license for each computer.

Yair,

I cannot set up 5 displays with my two 580's but I have not tried. You need I believe a 600 series card to run more displays. I created a post at Widescreen Gaming on this subject and it is still quite active. It may give you more info on how to proceed:

I ended up adding a forth display via a 2nd PC, which now I prefer to run external programs, gauges, cruise the WEB, watch TV, etc.

Hi Clutch,

i use at this time 3+1 monitors over GTX 680 SLI . One as Touch for overhead panel. On second PC maps and TV or instruments with PM Software.

Works fine in windowed or fullscreen mode.
