October 20, 201213 yr More seriously, does anyone know what the C-160 pilot had to say about the early touchdown? Just wondering. AFAIK She didn't make any public comment on the landing, nor do I think she would given she's a Luftwaffe pilot... Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
October 20, 201213 yr Didn't know it was a she. Well, a world of stereotype thoughts just entered the discussion. As the gentlemen we are, we will fight those though. I had to write this, my gf was close. Edited the missing .
October 20, 201213 yr Didn't know it was a she. Well, a world of stereotype thoughts just entered the discussion. As the gentlemen we are, we will fight those though. I had to write this, my gf was close. We're hardly in the 1920's now are we, I think that sort of thing has lost it's place at this stage.. I'd hope... Women make just as good pilots as men, infact I think we had this discussion on Avsim before not so long ago... Well, for a bit of comedy on the whole thing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39qdhbkTko4 Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
October 20, 201213 yr I've added a proper smiley. You no worry, Rónán. I have some 1960 or so cooking book which explains a lot of things, together with the role of the woman in the household. If I ever wanted to write some offending texts about women, I would just copy and paste it from there. It's not marked as some satire, which actually is the most offending fact about that book. Ok, back to topic. I was really interested what could cause the early touchdown regardless of the pilot's gender. I know the turbines need some spool up time and things, but I wonder if they even attempted to spool them up and gain a few feet to the actual runway.
October 20, 201213 yr A lot of us have tried that at one time or another LOL You would have loved Wellington airport years ago, especially when you could stand at the end of 34 and watch the Qantas 747SP arrive. Most people would start to move quickly to one side as it got closer and closer. I used to love it! http://jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=500844 Gives a good idea of the size as it goes overhead.
October 20, 201213 yr Well, for a bit of comedy on the whole thing... :LMAO: Showed that one to my GF and she didn't find it as funny as I did. Had to block a near kick to my......after showing her that one Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
October 21, 201213 yr The pilots must have failed to read the charts for Ballenstedt, as they were actually way too heavy for the runway (MTOW 5700kg)... Was being delivered to a museum there - was never intended for it to have to take off again!
