November 2, 201213 yr Did anyone ever figure out how to remove the head latency effects on FSX? It's giving me a hell of a time with the NGX - Considering that I've moved my default eyepoint a little to make it feel more realistic for me, when making turns the HGS is almost moving out of view! I've made the change to Momentumeffect and the settings in FSX.CFG are all at 0.0 and nothing seems to kill the darn thing! Interestingly the effect is much worse when I fly in Australia than when i fly in Europe... James W
November 2, 201213 yr Yes this is how its done. Its turned on and off in CAMERAS.CFG, which is located in the same user path as FSX.CFG. Locate the section for [Virtual Cockpit}, a few lines down you will see this record:MomentumEffect=Yes Change it to:MomentumEffect=No This removes the VC head latency. cheers Bryan Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
November 3, 201213 yr You can also disable it for an individual aircraft if you want. Go to the aircraft's CFG file and you'll see "MomentumEffect" under each camera definition. Jehan Kateli
November 3, 201213 yr Author As stated in my first post, I'm afraid I've already set momentum effect=no and it's not made a jot of difference. Head still bobbing about during turns :( James W
November 3, 201213 yr Have you also edited the corresponding camera definitions set in your aircraft cfg files? It could also be due to an inherent FSX bug: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/374622-camera-movement-in-vc/ DIMITRI
November 3, 201213 yr Author Indeed I have edited the FSX.cfg files - just to clarify, has anyone ever actually completely disabled the head latency? James W
November 3, 201213 yr I have using the setting adjustment I mentioned above. I do not change anything in Aircraft.cfg. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
November 4, 201213 yr FSX Acceleration for me and no ezdock. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
November 4, 201213 yr Author Interesting, do you fly heavies of GA aircraft? I find the effect isn't an issue in anything small, but once you get into something heavier things get a bit worse. I've tried every combination of settings in camera, FSX and aircraft CFG files but still not yet found a solution. There must be a way to get rid of it somehow! James W
November 4, 201213 yr There is dynamic head movements section in the FSX cfg. I am not at my rig right now, but scroll down and look. If you set the parameters to 0 in those lines only, that will help across the board as I did from day 1 in FSX. Don't forget to backup your cfg file before doing this in case you do something wrong. Hope this helps. Best, Jeff EDIT: Sorry James, just read the OP again and see the FSX cfg was altered to 0 already. Hope you find a solution.
November 4, 201213 yr I haven't had the problem in ages, although nowadays I'm running TrackIR. If my memory is correct, it was a change to the FSX.CFG file in the DynamicHeadMovement section that reduced the head movement to something manageable, probably in one or both of these parameters: MaxHeadAngle=5.000000 MaxHeadOffset=0.300000 When I find my file with the fixes I've made, I may have more information. Hook PS. All I can remember is that I didn't set it to zero. Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
November 4, 201213 yr [DynamicHeadMovement] HeadMoveTimeConstant=0.000000 LonAccelOnHeadLon=-0.000000 LonAccelOnHeadPitch=-0.000000 MaxHeadAngle=0.000000 MaxHeadOffset=0.000000 RollAccelOnHeadLat=0.000000 RollAccelOnHeadRoll=0.000000 YawAccelOnHeadLat=-0.000000 These settings in the FSX cfg. COMPLETELY removes any head movement for me, without touching anything else. This also works in Prepar3D. /Russell.
