Aerosoft's Las Vegas X...Missing terminal buildings?!

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have recently purchased and installed Aerosoft's Las Vegas X and on my first flight to KLAS I noticed that all of the terminal buildings are missing?! The jetways are all there standing alone and not attached to anything because the terminals are gone!? The rest of the scenery package seems to be working great, although I haven't landed at any of the other airports included with the scenery yet.

I had to disable the default FSX Las Vegas scenery after installing Las Vegas X because there were duplicate buildings place in the city such as two space needle buildings and two Luxors. I also have the default FSX North American scenery(s) disabled because I am running GEX North America.

Am I doing something wrong? How do I get the terminals back while still getting the most out of Las Vegas X and GEX??

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Ben Weaver

You mean their US Cities Las Vegas? That should be a tweaked default airport if I'm correct. Maybe you have another scenery for KLAS active. Some freeware maybe? Sorry, just guessing.

The Aerosoft scenery forum is here. http://forum.aerosof...fs2004-scenery/ Maybe it also helps to post over there.

This will happen if you have FSDT Las Vegas airport installed and have not activated it yet.

Best regards,

Jim

Jim,

By activating the scenery do you mean having it checked in the scenery settings in FSX?

CoolP,

I believe it is called Las Vegas X by Aerosoft. At least that is what my invoice from the AVSIM Store says. I don't believe I have any other Las Vegas scenery installed or active. In fact, I have the add-on scenery box un checked in FSX Scenery options.

Jim has quite a point there.

If we are talking about the USCities Las Vegas scenery from Aerosoft, that would be an area addon with the mentioned tweaked default KLAS airport. But if we are talking about the single addon airport KLAS (which is done by FSDT and may be sold by Aerosoft), he is spot on. You have to activate it to see the buildings. Otherwise, it runs in that trial mode.

To activate, follow the manuals. They should be in your FSX installation folder and then \fsdreamteam\KLAS klas_manual.pdf. There also is a FSdt_install_guide.pdf at \fsdreamteam.

So if you have that airport from FSDT, you should be seeing a menu point called Addon Manager.

clipboard01ed.jpg

That one activates the stuff. Just click it. It should also contain a link to the manual, in case you don't find it directly. If you don't see that menu in the FSX title bar, something on the installation went wrong. I suggest you head for the Aerosoft or FSDT forums then.

So the main part is to find out exactly which addon you mean. The whole city or that single airport.

I believe it is called Las Vegas X by Aerosoft.

If that's the case, it sounds like the city and the airport should show up in full.

Can you post a screenshot of the airport and surroundings maybe?

CoolP,

I have the USCities Las Vegas scenery from Aerosoft (Las Vegas X). I do not have anything from FSDT.

I checked the ads for Las Vegas X and it does not include any airport buildings, so, if you deactivated the default Las Vegas, you also got rid of the buildings on KLAS. If you want to eliminate the duplicate buildings between the default and Aerosoft's rendition, there's another procedure for this that's a bit more complicated (removing .bgl's). If you really like Las Vegas in all its glory, why not buy the FSDT Las Vegas Airport? It will include the buildings on the airport once activated. Just a thought.

Best regards,

Jim

Jim is right. It may not be the cheapest airport you've ever bought, but surely one of the best. Well, the default airport should also work of course. Although not being that nice to look at.

That clears it up. So forget my text on the activation of the FSDT stuff. Right you are.

That makes perfect sense. I believe I will purchase the FSDT KLAS so I can truly enjoy the area. Will the FSDT KLAS airport add on work with Aerosoft's Las Vegas X? Thank you for your help!

CoolP,

Lol you are right the default KLAS is definitely not very attractive to look at. I believe an investment into FSDT KLAS may be in order. Thanks for your help!

This question is off topic but I just noticed this while going through my FSX.cfg file... I noticed there are two graphics cards listed. It lists an integrated Intel graphics processor (which is a part of the processor as it came from Dell), and it shows my Invidia GTX550 TI. Should I delete the integrated Intel graphics from the .cfg since the Invidia GTX550 TI is the one I want to do all the work?

Sorry for adding to the confusion CoolP. I thought for sure he had FSDT McCarren installed and thus threw you off course. You did good providing him info on what to look for. I hope reactivating Las Vegas is the fix.

Best regards,

Jim

No worries, Jim.

Well, if Ben now gets the FSDT airport and runs into activation problems, he's already prepared. ^_^

Will the FSDT KLAS airport add on work with Aerosoft's Las Vegas X?

I guess so. There should be a section in the manual of the Aerosoft scenery on what to do and what not when the FSDT airport is installed. The Aerosoft city environment came after the FSDT airport, so they were aware about its existence. In the scenery library, the airport should be at higher priority than the city.

On the graphic cards. I can only guess that, if they are both active, two entries are ok. But maybe ask again in the hardware forums here at Avsim.

In case you haven't seen yet, Matt over at Aerosoft answered your question in the thread you started there regarding your original issue. You need to activate the scenery using the Aerosoft Launcher. See Matt's reply here: http://forum.aerosof...gs/#entry420857

That is exactly what I was thinking  Thank you for all the help and advice CoolP!

Thank you Kyle! I saw Matt's reply and I will try running the Aerosoft Launcher when I get home. If that doesn't work I think Jim may be right about turning back on the default FSX Las Vegas scenery. I will post back with results.
