November 18, 201213 yr I freelance with no VA (aside an online logbook) so routes and aircraft issues really isn't an issue on my part. Agreed. I joined BAV and done around ten flights - I got fed up with it; I felt way too restricted. I was building up to the 777 but I'm not happy about the fact if you don't give a position report every hour you don't get the hours - I know I'll get distracted most the time so flying with them will be pointless. - Luke Pabari
November 18, 201213 yr I have begun 'retiring' some of the other types I used to fly in FSX, from E190's, E145's, and A330/340's from a certain publisher right up to and including the LDS 767-300ER. Yes, I no longer have a 767 in my fleet (completley not even installed on my new PC). With my new PC I have only ever flown the following fleet: PMDG B747-400X PMDG MD11 PMDG 737NGX (-600, -700 - 800 and -900(rarely) ) Leo Maddog MD82 PMDG JS4100 Realair Beechcraft BE60 Duke (Turbine) Carenado Beechcraft King Air BE90 Realair Lancair Legacy 2000 Carenado Cessna C172M The 777 will add more variety to my longhauls and probably encourage me to fly the Atlantic Crossing a bit more. I have flown a few atlantic crossings on the 747X and the MD11, but I find the 747 a bit clunky these days compared to MD11 and NGX. The MD11 also a bit restrictive on realistic liveries/routes, so it's either been World Airways or KLM type routes with the odd Lufthansa Cargo or other cargo type flight with that. Flying Delta/Air Canada, and eventually British, American, KLM, Air France, United etc with the 777 expansion packs for -300ER and/or -200ER will see my 777 use skyrocket. Air New Zealand routes (as above) will also be on the cards along with Virgin Australia (used to be V Australia/VAU/"Veeoz", now Virgin Australia/VOZ/"Velocity" callsign) 777-300ER flying ex Australia to pacific/asia for my "Local area near home" fix. Yes, I will certainly be flying the 737NGX still, and the MD82, JS4100, Beech Duke, Lancair Legacy etc along with the 777's after release, I will just enjoy a wider range of options when picking flights to do on Vatsim. November 18, 201213 yr I'll be doing a ton of regional flights in the 777 that aircraft will build cycles just as fast as Aloha's 732's especially since I like to make minimal use of the autopilot. The DC-9 (the coolsky is really nice with beta patch 4) has gotten a real good grip on me and autopilots are getting more and more boring so I'll probably do one long haul every few months lol Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
November 18, 201213 yr Author I'll be doing a ton of regional flights in the 777 Me too and I can not do 16 hours of flight (LAX-CDG).
November 18, 201213 yr Hi everyone, After the release of 777, you will continue to fly the NGX or not ? For me, I will continue to fly the NGX and 777 naturally. The 777 is like a big 737 to me, so it will be the 737NGX for short to medium flights and the 777 for the long haul stuff. Michael Pare Extreme Boeing 737NG fanatic

November 18, 201213 yr I'm sure I'll go through the same phase I always do. Fly the crap out of the new toy for awhile then settle back into my normal variation. Randy Swofford

November 18, 201213 yr Agreed. I joined BAV and done around ten flights - I got fed up with it; I felt way too restricted. I was building up to the 777 but I'm not happy about the fact if you don't give a position report every hour you don't get the hours - I know I'll get distracted most the time so flying with them will be pointless. Hourly posreps might appear to be a pain, but I don't see the point in clocking up hours by setting the FMS and then leaving it to fly itself. You're only there at the start and end of a flight. Your PC should get the credit for the hours in between. It nearly put me off joining BAV but I now find it a natural and acceptable part of a flight. If you fly online you would need to be at the PC more than once an hour anyway. It does mean I can't fly long haul if I have other commitments, but so be it. I'd recommend sticking with it until you get to Captain and can try a long haul with BAV. Or maybe fly a "classic" on a long haul route to see how you cope with the posreps. I find the hourly posrep requirement actually adds to the VA experience. I set my watch bezel as a visual reminder of when the next report is due, but setting an alarm on your phone is another possibility. I also changed the posrep due warning sound to a louder and more attention getting tone which helps.
November 18, 201213 yr Im thinking about joining BAV, i have around 730 hours on VATSIM at the moment, I take it these count nothing towards BAV hours? Simon Roberts
November 18, 201213 yr Me too and I can not do 16 hours of flight (LAX-CDG). Yep an eight hour pond hop from ORD is all I do long haul wise. Alex Jevdic KORD/KHOT/KPWKA<380 love at first flight
November 18, 201213 yr Author Yep an eight hour pond hop from ORD is all I do long haul wise. I know. 8 hour flight is not 16 hours. The distance is shorter. I like to do 4 or 5 flight hours but not more.
