July 24, 200421 yr Author For the ultimate spit try IL-2 Forgotten Battle Aces Expansion Pack. The spit in it is amazing to say the least.See you in the fence...CYYZ Al Stiff
July 24, 200421 yr Do a search in the library for these two authors, Paul Rebuffat and Jean-Pierre Langer. This will give you some nice CFS Spits and a pretty good panel. The Realair Spitfire should be the best and is definitely going to be in my hangar.John
July 24, 200421 yr Head on over to http://www.aeroplaneheaven.com , and go to the Free Stuff section. If you join as a member (it's free), you can download a truly excellent freeware set of Seafires. They are superb, the best I've seen so far, with very nice VCs (which is where I fly from).Aeropane Heaven is also doing a payware version, of the two-seater Spitfire. When that and RealAir's are out, I'll be waiting. :)Mike F.Clip-winged version of a Mk.II.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/85177.jpgTeasing the students! A Mk.III (in my own repaint).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/85178.jpg
July 24, 200421 yr Mind sending me the repaints you have? I have this bird, she is a beauty! Thanks for the links!Hornit
July 24, 200421 yr I'm away for a few days, but I'll try and get the repaint to you when I'm back...Mike F.
September 29, 200421 yr From the RealAir Spitfire info :"The VC includes many innovative new features such as an updated version of our exclusive RealView pilot inertia effect, and the smoothest gauge motion we have ever seen in an FS9 virtual cockpit
September 30, 200421 yr Hi Sean>With anti-aliasing on and high detail settings, I get a>constant 25fps or better. The VC gauges are genuinely smoother>in movement than the best 2D panel gauges and the Spit will>run well on any machine that can run our previous releases.>High FPS is always a high priority for our releases.>>We've used a fairly radical gauge-creation method to achieve>this, I won't go into detail as it's a trade secret at the>moment ;-).That sounds amazing! with a refresh rate like that we really have no need of a 2D panel in FS. I was always told that 2D gauge update smoothness was impossible to achieve in a 3D virtual cockpit. I can't think of a better aircraft to fly only using a VC that the Spitfire. I can't wait to try it out when it's released! It seems that you have achieved the "impossible". Jerky gauges always put me off virtual cockpits, I think the RealAir Spitfire will revolutionize 3D aircraft cockpits. Any chance of a video sometime to see the panel in action? I don't blame you for keeping tight lipped on how you managed to achieve this. I know there are other Spitfires in "production" at the moment but RealAir's is the one I'm hanging on for. With the preview pictures I've seen on your site, smooth 3d gauges and an air file by Rob Young what else could anyone who loves this aircraft want? I've also heard a rumour of other goodies to be included in the package, perhaps you could enlighen us on what to expect sometime?CheersTim
September 30, 200421 yr I've been flying the RealAir Spitfire for a few weeks now, and guys I have to tell you, there's nothing else like it. Normally I'd say that kind of comment coming from somebody associated with the developer was a little suspicious, but I seriously didn't believe what I was seeing at first. With this plane's VC, the new standard will be trying to get even the 2D panels on other aircraft to operate this smoothly; the gauges are that good! I'm working on a video to show just how wonderful they are. Will release as soon as I can get my video capture technique to run at high enough frame rates to really show this feature off.
September 30, 200421 yr Oh boy, a RealAir Spit! If it is only half as good as the SF260, which I fly evey day, I'll be in heaven! Cannot wait for it. With evey release you're raising the bar big time so keep it up!Lennart
September 30, 200421 yr I agree...anything realair will be great - and a spitfire...ah, I can't wait!
September 30, 200421 yr Just to add to Sean's post, the Spitfire will be Virtual Cockpit only. There is absolutely no need for a 2d panel since our VC will be sharper than most 2d panels anyway, and with gauge updates quicker and smoother than most existing 2d panels the only possible use for 2d panels in this context would be to enable "snap" views to the side, but we'll be including detailed instructions about how to set this up in FS2004 with the Virtual Cockpit so you can pan as normal or have the option of snapping to a view as with standard panels.Kind Regards,Rob Young - www.realairsimulations.com Robert Young - retired full time developer - see my Nexus Mod Page and my GitHub Mod page
