November 29, 201213 yr As well as disc versions of XP8 & 9. And I've owned the Falco, as part of my XP collection, for around two years now. Larry, both of us know you'd be gone if this forum was really moderated...
November 29, 201213 yr Fyi I'd bet Larry was around here long before you. Why are hard core xplaners so defensive-and I am presently an xplaner/fsxer/aeroflyer? Don't we all want the best sim? Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 29, 201213 yr Fyi I'd bet Larry was around here long before you. Why are hard core xplaners so defensive? Don't we all want the best sim? Nope, quite wrong. Larry has never, ever stood up for X-Plane. He denigrates at every opportunity, takes no prisoners. X-Plane has ONE, little, tiny space on this huge website and he's allowed to malign and diminish it's very existence. There comes a point where we get the message...can we move on? What the He?? do you expect for 79$?
November 29, 201213 yr Larry, both of us know you'd be gone if this forum was really moderated... In other words...............it would be just like X-Plane org. As far as I'm concerned, my statements are very valid. They're from a long time of sim experience, as well as real flight. On the org...........an older thread has been recently brought up. It's one of those FSX versus X-Plane threads. A responder stated that the person with questions should try both sims. But then he said something to the effect.................that if you're a real pilot, then you'll find that you'll much prefer X-Plane, once you get use to it. And that's how it is at the org. Most of the questions and statements stop..............while it's in X-Plane's favor. I was booted off the org. (moderated for a while, first), because I thought a highly promoted P-51 addon sucked. I felt that the Real Air Spitfire was far better in flight dynamics & perceived feel. The thread was concerning rudder control. The thread was locked after the owner of the org, stated that the P-51 model was the best by far. I have been up through aerobatic routines (loops & rolls) in an actual P-51D Mustang. I'm also an actual pilot who doesn't share the notion that XP is the preferred sim by "all" pilots. But I'll keep up with XP. I bought a new computer for version 8 & plan to do so for XP-10. as well as running FSX more efficiently. L.Adamson
November 29, 201213 yr Well as a user of all sims including this one for $79 dollars and the other $500 I have invested in add ins -I do have a lot of concerns. Inho Larry calls it like it is as I try to. I critic all sims-because sitting around in bliss will never encourage improvement. Seeing no evil, speaking no evil, hearing no evil produces nothing-and that goes beyond sims. I have a considerable investment in xplane-and most importantly temporarily or perhaps permanently I am no longer flying rw. Therefor I have a vested interest as a "shareholder" in xplane to make it its' best-as it may be the only future path. Not gonna happen by not mentioning where it needs to come up to snuff-and frankly there are many areas where it hasn't even with a dead 6 year old sim. Seems many don't know this-because they only fly one sim. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 29, 201213 yr By the way Geof, even if FSX is clinically dead, you can get a version at factory discount and tons of software for it at below cost....for what it's worth... P.S. I doubt Larry was here before I was...don't believe the joined dates, they can be misleading.

X-Plane has ONE, little, tiny space on this huge website and he's allowed to malign and diminish it's very existence. There comes a point where we get the message...can we move on? What the He?? do you expect for 79$? Sure I have. Numerous times. If I hadn't, Tom K would have never made me a revised model of my RV6A, including the paint job..........would he?Problem is, people like you...............go to great lengths, to give the impression that FSX is DEAD. If I had no use for X-Plane, I wouldn't own the four payware models that I do. It's not a lot, but it's a lot more that someone who totally dismisses XP, would have bought. My position is to use both sims. I see know reasons, as to why not. The ones who totally don't agree with my position, are the die-hards........who can't see any good in a Microsoft product. L.Adamson By the way Geof, even if FSX is clinically dead, you can get a version at factory discount and tons of software for it at below cost....for what it's worth... P.S. I doubt Larry was here before I was...don't believe the joined dates, they can be misleading. Somewhere around 1995 or 6. Was very active with Pro-Pilot and AVSIM around 1997. Didn't like FS98 much. And... Geofa was very active on the same Pro-Pilot forum. We both discovered that Pro-Pilot actually did a good job of what a plane should feel like, around the same time.
November 29, 201213 yr As is my "joined" date-Larry and I were here at the beginning-not what shows here. Regardless I have taken your slogan and changed my sig to Wanted Dead or Alive-the best flight sim! (as good a slogan as can be imho for flight simming). When the alive one takes some hints/ideas from the dead one perhaps there can be a proper burial for good! Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 29, 201213 yr By the way Geof, even if FSX is clinically dead, you can get a version at factory discount and tons of software for it at below cost....for what it's worth... My latest addon, the RealAir Lancair Legacy, was close to $40. It's worth it. The good stuff for FSX, is still up there in cost.
November 29, 201213 yr Geof, it has nothing to do with the the sim itself...how about complaining to the third party devs? What's a year when we've been fed crap from MS for the past 6? After what MS did, as a dev, I'd have canned them! It's a question of principle, some people don't have any!
November 29, 201213 yr Well I confess you completely lost me.. Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
November 29, 201213 yr Geof, it has nothing to do with the the sim itself...how about complaining to the third party devs? What's a year when we've been fed crap from MS for the past 6? After what MS did, as a dev, I'd have canned them! It's a question of principle, some people don't have any! I'm not a particular fan of Austin Meyer.............except for the fact that he donates to animal shelters. That's great as far as I'm concerned. I even bought XP-9, knowing that it would help a slight bit with fuel, for one of his latest expensive GA airplanes. As to MS, back in those old day's, when they actively promoted flight sims, it was a good place to be around. I was on the beta testing for three versions. Most of those programmers were really into flying, and a number of them also had pilot licenses. They always invited 3rd party vendors to be in on the beta-testing. Some say that Microsoft wouldn't have been, to the point it got, without third parties.............and that's true. But then the 3rd parties would have never got to where they did..............without Microsoft. It was MS that let developers hang on to the coat tails................for all those earlier years. Business is business, and I appreciate what MS brought us. They were the first to provide real life and authentic data bases for terrain, airports, and navigation..............because they could afford it. At least they did it. That's why it was as "Real as it gets".
November 29, 201213 yr Sorry Geof, where did I lose you? Read 'your' post 80! You should be able to find your way back....
November 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member Moses parts the Red Sea, and someone complains "...but I'll get my sandals muddy." FSX vs X-Plane all over again.
November 29, 201213 yr I have a considerable investment in xplane-and most importantly temporarily or perhaps permanently I am no longer flying rw. I didn't know that. It's the same here. No money to repair the RV, and I'm on medications at the present, which may prevent a new medical next year. Flight sims will be my only future. I haven't convinced the wife though. She loved flying all over the west, in the RV. She doesn't believe that the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Monument Valley, Yellowstone, and the Sedona area is going to look as good on a desk top sim. We can only hope! Moses parts the Red Sea, and someone complains "...but I'll get my sandals muddy." FSX vs X-Plane all over again. They say.....................competition is good!
