That would be a great system, but I don't think you would need to change from an i5 to an i7, because I suppose XPX is more GPU dependent and the i5 is a strong dude.

For scenery and texture based objects, it's more GPU dependent, For things like water reflection, fog, etc... that is more CPU dependent.

XPX is growing beautiful day by day, but the ATC and AI traffic should be sorted out and then no one shall has use FSX

In addition to XP (part time) , I'll still use FSX for the "flight models". Just ordered a new copy of FSX Gold for less than 10 bucks.

Is the above statement, a departure from what I usually hear?

I looked at the pictures very carefully and have to admit it seems very impressive, especially at first. Looking further shows a lot of inter-penetration (especially in the buildings) though, and still leaves me thinking a more professional treatment would not go amiss.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Do you mean FSX has a better flight model ? But I have read XP has a better flight model.

All these pics in here are with addon scenery, correct? Anyone have before and after pics of improvements that this 64bit version brings to the table?

Take a look at my post here: http://forum.avsim.n...ut/page__st__25

This is default autogen art only, no addon scenery.

Edit: I think that GoraM's post above also has no addon scenery, I may be wrong.

For clarity's sake, the New York City, Detroit, Indianapolis, images found in Comanche's Post #27 are addons... FSX scenery converted into X-Plane. They are not default by any stretch. Goran's from Post #29 looks fully default. Comanche's video to lead off the topic is also a combination of addon and default.

The 64-bit platform brings the memory use capabilities needed to better run these scenery elements at higher levels of detail, it doesn't inherently increase the detail by default.

64 bit X Plane

GTX 560

4GB RAM

i5

Objects set to "Extreme"

25 fps in the cockpit

21fps in the exterior view

Is that completely default? You seem to lack a lot of roads.

Other than that it looks excellent - except maybe that Laminar really should come up with a better city base textures. Something that adds a bit more visual clutter than pure grass. Could have a bit more trees in between too - oh well there is always room for improvement .

Here is a comparison before / after the new autogen, and two more just for fun (no add-on).
