Shall I list the criticisms I have of FSX?

Trust me, the list is quite extensive and well known (but not acknowledged) by even the FSX community..

I'll say it once again-you guys are xplane's worst enemies...

I have $500 invested in xplane-I am a investor and a shareholder.

Time to look a little deeper and improve it..and yes fsx is dead.

Yet it still drives you guys crazy-help xplane improve so it doesn't anymore-we will all be happier and be able to move on.

How so? Your constant complaining is helping? What is it you desire for your $79 frikin' dollars? When was the last time Bill Gates replied to one of your emails?

Oh brother...in my opinion you are not a flight sim enthusiast but a zealot-and in my opinion that does not help flight simming...and I've been around flying all the sims since 1981 and am an enthusiast of all. Doesn't mean I see no evil, speak no evil, hear no evil. Yes fsx is dead-why is fsx still so irritating to you?

And I'll be glad to post a jpeg of monkeys see no evil hear no evil, speak no evil but seems kind of childish to me-and a case of instead of attacking the message attacking the messenger...but then Goran has a vested interest as a commercial developer for xplane...I understand-I bought both his Beechcraft renditions...they are very good aircraft for xplane.

I didn't know that. It's the same here. No money to repair the RV, and I'm on medications at the present, which may prevent a new medical next year.

Flight sims will be my only future. I haven't convinced the wife though. She loved flying all over the west, in the RV. She doesn't believe that the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Monument Valley, Yellowstone, and the Sedona area is going to look as good on a desk top sim. We can only hope!

Well in my case I had a huge change in life events. Sold the Baron, job changed, retired, moved to the West Coast, and waiting a year to see how things (finances) shake out to see whether to jump back in. Kind of accomplished all my flying goals with landings in all Continental states, xcrossed the Us many times every direction, and all my ratings except an atp. Feel satisfied, gonna take a break and see how I feel in a year.

Meantime-need a fix on the computer-and the best fix-and have no absolute loyalty except to the best computer simulation even though that irritates the zealots!

Geof... I certainly am a flightsim enthusiast. Since MS has officially abandoned flight simulation, what other option do we have? Those who wish to follow the developers on the FSX side can do so, no one is stopping you. I'd rather go the opposite way, as far from Microsoft as possible. Developers choose which way they go, nothing I can do about that except to shy away from their wares. That's pretty much it, no ill intentions or conspiration, just plain common sense.

Got over Microsoft years ago when they booted the Aces team which I thought was despicable.

I agree-xplane may be the future...but so far leaves me cold. Instead of seeing it as perfect which it isn't I think we should lobby big time for what it needs -and there are lots. It still overall hasn't caught up to a defunct 6-7 year old program in so many ways...either strikes me as the creators have never really taken a look at the competition, or they are surrounded by yes men-not good..There is potential-but until it manifests is not worth diddly.

The real culprit here isn't Laminar... it's ----place third party developer's name here-----'s fault. Underestimating the potential of this simulation is an unpardonable mistake on their part, and one they will come to realize, too late. We cannot expect Laminar to do it all. Put pressure on the supporting cast, then maybe, we'll get what we want.

Wow! What a statement. I love X-Plane, FSX and FS9. Always have. X-Plane just brings more to the table, for my own personal tastes, than the other platforms do.

X-Plane IS being improved Geof. Constantly. It's just been made 64 bit and has had a huge scenery enhancement.

But they take it 1 step at a time in order of priority.

And regarding your last statement, the only things that personally drive me crazy are totally not flight sim related in any way shape or form.

As far as helping X-Plane improve, I'm part of a company that has developed a scripting language that helps make 3rd party products get completed in up to a quarter of the time than regular C/C++ programming. And I've also helped in trying to resolve conflicts between Gizmo and SASL (another scripting language) for the past year. Not to mention emailing Austin myself a few times for features and enhancements.

I would be very curious who else (Apart from Jcomm) has emailed Austin about these problems as opposed to posting them in a forum that Austin doesn't even come to.

Gotta say-owned xplane 10 for a year. My Carenado aircraft which they said would have a patch with a stable version of xplane still hasn't happened yet. My Mu aircraft -haven't used it yet ever though touted as one of the best-couldn't in 9 due to resolution-told patch would be for 10-maybe missed out (should someone inform me of a patch?) but never have had one flight-cost me some money but I'm a flight sim enthusiast and chalk some up to such. The scenery enhancement-yeah autogen looks better but landclass is much worse-one step forward and one back.

.and sorry Austin is so selective-but like email surveys-I feel I can't really spend much of my time spending helping increase his profits when there is nothing but my time...I've had it with telephone surveys, internet surveys, etc. that want me to contribute my time which is worth a certain $ for nothing.

If you have problems with Carenado and the MU-2 regarding patches, why would you blame X-Plane for that?

If my PMDG add on wasn't working, I certainly wouldn't email Aces for that. I would submit a support ticket with PMDG.

I only blame that I spent $$$ and have nothing. Does that seem unreasonable?

No notices, no information, and I'll be &*&* if I spend hours searching the internet for answers-my time is more valuable.

But again-is anyone listening-does this help the xplane environment? When I asked about a patch here about your product and Cameron chastised me for asking in a forum for advise from the vendor(you) who was participating in the thread does that help?

Didn't we get the pr that this version of xplane 10 was different? So far not..all of my aircraft have problems but are expected to have patches when a "stable" version arrives. When is that-thought that already happened...

I can't speak for Carenado as I am not affiliated with them in any way. But if you have a problem with the MU-2, then it would only make sense that you go to the proper forums and ask questions or follow the progress on the update. There is a 30 page thread about it where Tom Kyler himself is very active and answers any questions about it.

Of course you shouldn't be out of pocket. No one expects you to be. But addressing your problems with X-Plane products here at AVSIM, where Tom Kyler or Cameron hardly ever come to, isn't the right way to go.

 

As far as Cameron is concerned, I can certainly inform him of the issues you have with him. He doesn't need me to hold his hand and is more than capable of speaking for himself.

 

EDIT: I feel I need to add to this seeing as you added to your post.

X Plane 10 IS different. Vastly different to XP9. Not just what you "see", but the inner workings...which have received a massive overhaul. Weather, night lighting, scenery, ATC, AI, have all been either added or improved.

Again, I don't know what add ons you are speaking of, but I can tell you the latest update of the Sundowner and Duchess work flawlessly (so far) in XP10 32 bit AND 64 bit. The DC-3 also works but only in 32 bit because it has 32 bit scripts and the scripting language we used needs to be made 64 bit, but it gets a little more complex than that at the X-Plane level, ...and that is being worked on by Laminar.

I contacted Tom when xplane 10 came out. He said wait for a patch. Have never heard boo since.

This is my xplane experience-doesn't matter who is the manufacturer-I'll be honest-I own 100's of add ons for most sims. I don't have time to go to every forum-doesn't it seem reasonable since when you purchase a sim add on and give every email private aspect of your life that you should be emailed of something since you have given every aspect of your life? Haven't gotten boo...from anyone-and that includes fsx providers-I think it is a travesty.

 

Already stated I will never purchase anything form a certain site do to attitude-about a year ago-I still stand by it.
