November 29, 201213 yr Guys, I have a Acer s273 HL 27 inch monitor and am looking to add another of the same model to it to run two screens. Will I be able to run one screen in VC with NGX and undock fmc, or OHP etc to the other screen? I have a GTX 580 will that do the job? If so what else will I need? Many thanks. November 29, 201213 yr I shall correct you Srdan ( in the best possible way of course  ) now it may be different on different setups ie, if running Win XP and not Win 7 or maybe a different GPU and driver, I don't know. But with my setup running Win 7 64bit and a GTX580 I have the main VC etc. running fullscreen on a single 30" Dell at 2560x1600 and then I drag the CDU, GPS, FSX ATC and FS2Crew GUI to a second Dell 17" monitor. If I try to run windowed (not that I do) but then it's not possible to drag panels to the second monitor, I can only do this if running fullscreen on the main monitor. Hope that helps guys. November 29, 201213 yr Author So full screen win7 64 bit I can do it then?so I will get the other monitor. how do you connect the two monitors to 1 card? http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
November 29, 201213 yr Howard, how do you do that? I know from before that it wasn't possible... something changed? Not sure matey, it may be the OS or the GPU, don't know. But as I say, I have one monitor running fullscreen and then a second one where I can drag all the relevent gauges from FSX. BUT I can't of course use third party progs like FS Commander or a moving map as these are running outside of FSX. If I want to do that then as you probably know, I have to run in windowed mode, and if I do that then I can't drag any gauges across. It's only guages and things that are relevent to the plane flying that I can drag across. Here's a pic.... November 30, 201213 yr Wows what's the monitor that the 737 is on looks great. that megs is my trusty Dell ultrasharp 30" 2560x1600 LCD. She is an absolute beauty and the one single item that has transformed FSX for me. November 30, 201213 yr Hi captains, may I ask Howard - don't you get severe FPS drop with these undocked panels on second monitor? I tried this once with MD11, and that was nightmare... :( GPU was GTX275 though. Thank you in advance!
November 30, 201213 yr Sounds like all you need is a 2nd DVI cable to hookup the 2nd monitor. I run dual 24 IN Dell WS monitors and keep the left one live with FSX and the 2nd full of Plan-G, AivlaSoft EFB, and popup windows of all sorts of instruments. I have the 580 video card. I jump back and forth between full screen and windowed mode - depending on how well FSX is performing. I hate the white random flashes from time to time in the windowed mode. I use some free trick to make the windowed mode appears as full screen. I am away from my FSX pc at the moment but it is a little batch file that using F11 to kick it on and off, I just googled 'Make windowed mode look like full screen' and got a gazillion returns so there must be many ways of getting there. In windowed mode, you are just about unlimited with what you can put on the 2nd monitor while running FSX. I don't really notice any FPS impact from the windows on the second monitor but I am running a FSX designed fast OC PC. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

Hi Mamejs, I know, it's really strange, I went from the HP 24" running at 1920x1200 to my beloved Dell and I experienced probably a 15% hit. As for a framerate hit when using the second monitor, I have to admit, it's virtually nothing. I agree, it's very odd, it may drop from 29 to 28, but that's about it. November 30, 201213 yr BTW I have not been able to run FSX spread across the two matching dual monitors with as Word Not Allowed mentioned using the 580 card. Must be a special trick or maybe a special video driver. I sure would like to see it happen though. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

Ray Hi Ray, I might be wrong, but you need Nvidia 3d surround BTW, I have always liked the idea of three monitors, but never liked the idea of a massive performance hit! November 30, 201213 yr Its possible to stretch across two monitors in Win XP but not in Win 7. Either a single monitor or 3 monitor to get surround. I was not able to get the surround using 2 monitors in Win 7. But you can have two monitors where you use the second monitor for other purposes. and 3D surround not required..2D surround is sufficient for FSX. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
November 30, 201213 yr Ive used the same setup as Howard since FSX was released. Works well. Couldn't quite get both monitors in pic.
November 30, 201213 yr Thank you Rendi and Howard, will try this tonight again! I do love idea to have at least FMC and radio (as I fly in VATSIM only) always at hand. Rest is not so important for me. Then may I fire another question (sorry for offtopic!) for you both? How do you operate wheather software and maps? Maps can be printed ofcourse...
November 30, 201213 yr Of course a real cool thing would be to have a touchscreen as a second monitor...
