Hey Kyle, It's nice to know we agree on something. :good: And you're right, some good advice did emerge from the CTD. But that's where the thread should have started.

Haha - yeah, who would've thought...

It's a forum dedicated to support for the NGX. It's not really the place to swap general experiences with the NGX unless you've found or solved a problem of some kind. If everyone shared their NGX flights like this the forum would simply get clogged up. I'm only a fellow user expressing my opinion so feel free to disagree. However Avsim have been fairly hot on off topic posts of late.

Hello Kevin, don't want to sound like a moron, I don't want to be wrong and strong either.

However, here is a question to tickle your brains, if this forum was for the sole purpose of support for the NGX then why was it made before the release of the NGX?

I actually think this forum is not only for support (which should be it's main purpose) but also for the expression of ideas, beliefs and personal experiences concerning the NGX.

Fair point however this forum is called the PMDG Support forum and If I am right in saying the mods have reinforced this several times. However what is done is done if a moderator thinks it should be moved then they will move it but arguing is frankly ruining an (extremely) good topic/conversation.

With regards to narrow bodies on transatlantic flights, yep been there done that got the pins and needles. Went to JFK from Manchester on an AA 757 flight and really enjoyed it. Was sadly expecting a larger aircraft for my first transatlantic flight (the booking was originally with BA so thought it would be A319 up to EGLL then 747).But when we were boarding there was two AA 757 flights the other going to Chicago Midway I believe both of which operate daily I think, so it does happen a lot.

I see where you are coming from, and I totally agree.

Thanks for sharing! I was pretty content later last night knowing that I had actually made it to the US, I was at around 1,000lb of fuel remaining, pretty awesome adventure overall, thanks to Kyle with the SB suggestion once more.

thanks to Kyle with the SB suggestion once more.

Welcome. Let me know if it works/doesn't work.

Welcome. Let me know if it works/doesn't work.

I actually just tried a quick hop and can confirm it being operational

I know it had something to do with SB since that would be a part of the exit error, so I tried reinstalling it before I did the MAN-BOS flight, but your suggestion seems to have hit the nail on its head.

I actually think this forum is not only for support (which should be it's main purpose) but also for the expression of ideas, beliefs and personal experiences concerning the NGX.

The relevant part of the forum rules says this:

7) POSTS MUST BE FACTUAL: Messages containing incorrect or misleading information may be removed at the moderator's discretion. This forum is designed primarily as a vehicle for the PMDG development team to interact with our customers, and for customers to interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better. Any other use of this forum is not permitted, including but not limited to discussion of PMDG pricing policies, refund policies, business practices, forum moderating policies, and any other topic deemed unacceptable by any forum administrator, AVSim moderator or staff member.

So the forum would have been set up before release as a way for PMDG to interact with its future customers by releasing information about the product and allowing customers to ask questions related to it. That's still customer support.

It then says customers should interact with one another in a manner that is positive, supportive and assists in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and helping to make this and future simulations better.

So for us, it's to assist one another and help make the simulation better. It's clearly not primarily for general chat about using the NGX. I'm sorry, but I don't think it's anywhere near as general as you seem to think.

Bear in mind that mods don't read every thread, they react to reports. If no one reported this thread, why would they move it?

Well as opposed to posting and quoting forum rules why don't you just report it then. Helps the moderators out and keeps the topic on track. Meanwhile everyone else is discussing the ability for the NGX to do transatlantic flights which is helping people understand the simulation.

I deliberately avoided quoting forum rules until the OP put me on the spot. It struck me as odd that the OP appeared to be justifying posting screenshots by using them to tell the story of his flight. So rather than report the thread I expressed my opinion. What's wrong with that, Tim?

Meanwhile, since the OP had a CTD on his flight, there hasn't been any further discussion of it. It's moved on to Squawk Box and how you start it. The fact is the NG has an ETOPS capability and can fly the Atlantic. It really isn't that surprising that the NGX can do so too.

The 777 forum is far worse than this one simply because, with little else to discuss, it has become a 777 show and tell. Do you really want the NGX forum to become like that?

Quoted from topic: PMDG Forum Rules: Please Read Before Posting

I think this post has done the above, in whatever little way it could.

Not everyone knows this, I made it to Boston with a little below 1,000lb of fuel. There have even been occurances in real life where the NG and 757 have had to make stops in Atlantic islands before continuing the transatlantic route.

My intention was just to simply give it a try, and report back, maybe someone would find the results interesting, and informative, and a good amount of people have ,and I therefore feel that my post has definitely assisted in the general advancement of understanding the simulation and has helped to make the NGX and future simulations better, in whatever way it could.

If you disagree, then so be it, we are human.

If I am wrong then so be it, the mods have ever right to remove this post, that's how its always been.

Want to report it? Go on, report it, you have every right to do so.

The 777 forum is far worse than this one simply because, with little else to discuss, it has become a 777 show and tell. Do you really want the NGX forum to become like that?

The 777 forum is like that because the bird hasn't been released as yet, exactly how the NGX forum use to be pre-release.

I do disagree, as you know, so I'll leave it at that. But what purpose did the screenshots serve? You opened the thread asking for dispensation for them to be allowed here, yet they didn't actually add anything to your experiment. You could have flown the route and posted the result afterwards. But would that really have added to anyone's understanding of the simulation?

From someone like you, widely respected on this forum, that's not really a very mature response.

Okay maybe the photos are the most irrelevant to the topic at hand, but It made the story easier to narrate. Visual imigary is one of the most effective imagries in descriptive writings, you know how the human uses it's well developed eyesight to it's advantage.

I even propose this is why Beta testers give us images with their previews, not just a whole drab of text.

I'd like to continue my thread now!

Thanks to the OP for what started out as an interesting thread. Shame it had to degenerate into slanging match over where it should be.

Some people need to get out more.
