December 6, 201213 yr Anyone else run into this? I'm seeing FPS down to 6 at times, which is outrageous considering my system. This is in the PMDG MD11 with UT2. @ 100% traffic, UTX (all settings highest) + GEX. No REXE+ yet, still running a single screen @ 2560x1440. DX10, all settings maxed except for bloom and ground scenery shadows. I can peg 30 with these settings just about anywhere else (save for FSDT KJFK + Manhattan X), this is definitely a situational issue.
December 7, 201213 yr I was ok with the Flightbeam airport, but adding Aerosoft San Francisco brings my system to its knees and that dosn't happen anywhere else. I honestly don't know it it's Aerosoft by itself or the combination but I don't use the Aerosoft anymore. It's a shame, because it looks great. And I know because you get a really good look when you're flying over at 4 fps.
December 7, 201213 yr Bro, you have to learn to turn down your settings. ESPECIALLY Ai traffic!! Don't mean to be mean, but what do you expect when you turn everything to 100%?? Low fps! I have an i5-2500K 4.6Ghz GTX 560TI and my ai trafic is at 17%. Ya, 17%. My autogen is set to "Normal" and all other traffic is disabled. With tweaks, I am able to have NGX, with Mega airport Helinski with 30+ FpS. It's not an error, it's your settings.

The poster before you confirmed my suspicions based on their personal experience with the same addons so yes, actually, it is a problem with these specific addons. The point is this is abnormally low FPS. Lower than even the vaunted FSDT KJFK + Manhattan X, and that's at night with severe weather vs. clear skies in the middle of the day at KSFO. For the record I get a minimum of 16 FPS there. Still think it's settings?
December 7, 201213 yr 100% traffic? How much time do you end up waiting on queue for takeoff? Yikes. I have traffic at 20% (with MyTrafficX) and it's around 10fps while flying in the same area with both those sceneries active (with the Milviz 310). Similar rig except for a 570 and i'm at 4.6Ghz Definitely dial down those settings, though.
December 7, 201213 yr Author Traffic settings are not comparable between different traffic programs. I actually find the traffic density with UT2 to be lacking, sadly.
December 7, 201213 yr Well I have all of those add-on's... Its not FlightBeam or UT2 that is the killer in that combo... You have a strong system, take out Aerosoft SFO and you should be back up in the 20's to 30's. I like that add-on from Aerosoft but it a system killer. I just have not found the sweet spot with Aerosoft Cites X yet... Hopefully, Intel's next round of chips with finally get us FSX MAX with all add-on's and FPS pinned in the 60's ... Well one can only dream about that day.....! I wondering what it's going to take to reach that day when the hardware finally catches up to FSX... Its getting closer but still not there yet....! Happy Holidays everyone..! Sounds like I'll have to uninstall Aerosoft San Francisco then unless someone has found a fix. Too bad, I specifically purchased Flightbeam KSFO because I wanted to have a detailed airport at every U.S. Cities X location. I'll play around with a few options and see if anything helps. Thanks!
December 7, 201213 yr That the story of our FS life... Fiddling around ... Let me know if you figure something out. I would first try to set traffic at 50% and see if there is any large gain in FSP. I doubt it. Keep us posted and good luck... 5Take Care, Will Clark My computer: Intel 14900K, Motherboard ROR Maximus Z790 Formula, PSU Dark Power 1600, Ram DDR5 (7200) Vengeance 32GB CL38, ASUS 4090, Keyboard Logitech ASUS, Mouse ROCCAT LEADR Wireless, Corsair M.2 SSD 4TB x2, Headset Astro A50 Wireless, Microphone Elgato Wave 3, Stream Deck Elgato XL, GoXLR, Loopdeck Live, Chair Steelcase Gesture with Headrest, Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL ROG White, Custom Built water cooling, Ek Lian li xl distro plate, Fittings EK & Bitspower, Monitor LG C1 48 OLED, Desk Speakers Audio Engine A5+ White.
December 7, 201213 yr The cause may or may not be Aerosoft San Fran but the solution definitely is lower your settings when you are in SF area. For the sake of 50% of your AI and dropping some sliders back to dense/normal you'll see very little visual difference but you can then enjoy flying there. December 7, 201213 yr Scenery = all max except water mid 2x Traffic = Airline - 30% GA - 5% Road - 20% Everything else - 0% AS2012 PMDG 747 Megascenery California I get 25-27fps. Try running with a fresh cfg file without the tweaks and see what you're getting. Bert dela Merced
December 7, 201213 yr I recall UT2 having trouble with the 100% setting in the SFO area. Try lowering it to 95% (which was a tip from their forums). This won't affect density much, but avoided a known stutter and/or bad fps source. The old Aerosoft city indeed is a frame hog and a possible source for oom too, depending on the rest of the installed scenery and the plane in use. But 6 fps on a decent system sounds pretty severe. If that UT2 setting doesn't help, I too would say that lower sliders are the only way. Or disabling the city. :( Edited. I wasn't entirely correct. Here's the older quote from the forums. Maybe it helps. Warning: FSX has a problem with too many aircraft in the sim if you try to change airports or time via the menu system. We have only seen this problem occur in the San Francisco Bay Area, but it may also occur in other dense population areas. We are updating the base UT2 package to account for this problem in FSX and will issue a hotfix for this shortly. Until then, when flying in the Bay Area, set your traffic density to 90% and you will be fine. This may apply to both sliders, especially when running the optional 'dense' GA traffic package.
December 7, 201213 yr Author I found the answer in a post over on Aerosoft's forums. So there are 3 BGL files with "extreme" in the name that include "experimental" detail settings which basically aren't meant to be run  Renaming the extention on these files has my FPS back up into the 20's-30's where they belong with occasional dips to 19. Also, I was mistaken on my UT2 settings, had those at only 30% for testing performance previously at KJFK. I wonder if there's a similar situation with Manhattan X because that would make the sim flyable in all situations for me Edit: quick check shows Manhattan X has no extra "extreme" BGL files which can be disabled :( Oh well, it's still usable just gets a bit hairy in the absolute worst case scenario with severe weather at night.
December 7, 201213 yr Author Where are the bgl files and what are they called? I'll try that too! Go to the Aerosoft folder in your FSX directory and then to the USCitiesX-SanFrancisco folder, then to the scenery folder. Look for the 3 BGL files that have "Extreme" at the end of the file name just before the .BGL extension. Add a ".off" extension after the .bgl and that will disable the extreme level of detail.
