December 7, 201213 yr I think you had a point with explaining that the UT2 traffic slider (the one in UT2) works differently than the one in FSX and other AI addons. Quote: 30% is way too low, at some airports you may see no traffic. Although this has been explained before, I will quickly cover it again, the way the traffic sliders work in both UT2 and FS is not linear and not global. For instance if we have four airports A, B, C and D each with 100 movements a day As you can see from the chart above there are only two occassions when all four airports will recieve the same amount of traffic out 100 flights a day with different traffic densities selected, that is with 100% and 0% at any other setting the traffic levels at the airports will be different. This is because it is the flights that have the traffic density setting applied to them NOT the airports. At airport A the majority of the flights flying in and out from there have a low density value so will show up even when the density slider is set very low, but at airport D the majority of flights have a very high density value and will stop appearing even with a high density slider setting. The density value applied to flights is applied in a random manner as there is not any other way of doing it, it is an impossible task to go through 24000 possible destinations and apply density values to flights flying in and out of them, to achive the same density % of traffic at them all. Unless you fly in and out of major airports like EGLL, EHAM, EDDF, KORD or KJFK then I will always recommend that you have you COMMERCIAL SLIDER at 100% and you GA slider set to a level you are comfortable with. That's the explanation and recommendation form the UT2 devs. I've highlighted the main difference in regard to other addons. This may not be that much on topic, but is just a reaction to the 'no 100% AI' statements. In UT2, those 100% work differently.
July 4, 201312 yr CoolP Thanks for that explanation. Looks like 70-30 give the exact same traffic ratio. You also forgot KATL in that list! Xaver Uzo
July 4, 201312 yr 100% traffic? How much time do you end up waiting on queue for takeoff? Yikes. I have traffic at 20% (with MyTrafficX) and it's around 10fps while flying in the same area with both those sceneries active (with the Milviz 310). Similar rig except for a 570 and i'm at 4.6Ghz Definitely dial down those settings, though. UT2 uses real schedules. The slider doesn't work like MTX. Edit: explained above already.
July 5, 201312 yr Go to the Aerosoft folder in your FSX directory and then to the USCitiesX-SanFrancisco folder, then to the scenery folder. Look for the 3 BGL files that have "Extreme" at the end of the file name just before the .BGL extension. Add a ".off" extension after the .bgl and that will disable the extreme level of detail.I have this low fps issue with Aerosoft Chicago, so have disabled it in FSX- but seeing this tip from TechGuy, I will try this and see if I get better perf. To the OP- FYI: Aerosoft Chicago has the same issue. I have the FSDT KORD scenery too, which no doubt adds to the perf problem Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
July 5, 201312 yr Author I have this low fps issue with Aerosoft Chicago, so have disabled it in FSX- but seeing this tip from TechGuy, I will try this and see if I get better perf. To the OP- FYI: Aerosoft Chicago has the same issue. I have the FSDT KORD scenery too, which no doubt adds to the perf problem Thanks, Bruce. I have Aerosoft Chicago and FSDT O'Hare and while performance can get low, it's not as bad as the situation I described in the original post @ KSFO. Endless OOMs with Aerosoft SFO + Flightbeam SFO. Switch to DX10 or lower your settings, those are the two options.
July 5, 201312 yr Endless OOMs with Aerosoft SFO + Flightbeam SFO. Yup..OOM and FPS Killer with Aerosofts SFO City Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
July 5, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hey folks, I just want to make sure, did you follow the advice to rename the "extreme" BGL files to disable them in Aerosoft's Cities: San Francisco? Not only there's no visual difference when you turn them off, it significantly improves performance. Unfortunately that scenery is not well optimized. Also, if you are having OOM's, follow PMDG's advice from Ryan here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/412418-looks-really-great-but-i-cant-buy-it/?p=2703633 It turns out many customers have a TON of photo scenery running in areas not even being flown over. All this adds to memory, even though it's no where near you. The funny thing is, when we first released KSFO, there was virtually no OOM cases at all, even with Aerosoft's SFO city. As time went by, and with megascenery releases new states, I can see OOM posts almost everywhere I go.
