December 11, 201213 yr Hi PMDG, ever thought of making a cockpit edition of your PMDG software for builders? All you have to do is program logic to a software board, you've already done all the hard parts with your modeling Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
December 11, 201213 yr Yes yes!!!! So far i'm using the NGX because I don't have all the hardware. I just have the CPFlight MCP, EFIS and AFDS from FDS but the minute I can switch to a forward view without any 3d cockpit, it would be great to still use the NGX. The flight dynamics are simply the best out there so far. Chris Verner Home cockpit builder ...well trying anyway
December 11, 201213 yr Lot's of posts concernig this topic, try a forum search and I believe your questions will be answered. George Morris
December 11, 201213 yr You can build a Cockpit with the NGX using SDK Control codes and FSUIPC. I've already got a custom MIP built and a 737 throttle. About to add an overhead and a CDU bay with an FMC and will soon be redoing the MIP to include 3 Displays. Here's a my "Phase 2" mockup and flight test I did the other night with the 3 displays. December 11, 201213 yr Hi Shaun, I saw your website earlier. Good stuff you have there. Alot of DIY. I'm more of a modules guy myself but very nice work you have done so far. I just got my MIP737 board yesterday and mounted it in my MCP/EFIS rack. I'm supposed yo get my AFDS today from Flightdecksolutions. I wil then be adding some switches (like you did) until I get my full size MIP done. Glad to see i'm not he only guy doing this ;-) Chris Verner Home cockpit builder ...well trying anyway
December 11, 201213 yr Yeah, only my MCP is a plug-n-play. I'd prefer modules but have to go the DIY route to save a few bucks. Though I've found thanks to doing it this way it's been easier to get stuff to work. Using FSUIPC and joystick emulator cards makes it really easy.... other than soldering a whole lotta wires! I've been debating between building another little custom MIP for the displays or just go all out for a Simworld Captain and Center console since I do want all the other MIP switches eventually. I was thinking of going the ProSim737 route but now that I've found I can pretty much do the same with the NGX I'll be sticking with it. Plus I can probably adapt most the hardware to maybe use on the 777 when it comes out thanks to FSUIPC profiles. Shaun OrtolanoTronAviation.com
December 11, 201213 yr I will be building the MIP myself out of MDF but I will get the panels from FDS. I live in Quebec and they are in Ontario so the shipping is super fast and no brokerage fees of any sort. Just regular sales tax and that comes up much much cheaper. Good luck with your project! it's ooking awsome. If you want o see my setup. it's here: It's in french but you will get the point i'm sure. Ni Nolatron, how did you manage to get all the panels to display and the cockpit in full screen mode? Usually this is only possible in Window mode. I am also planning to purchase a CP Flight MCP and a CDU in the near future. I'm expecting delivery of my Jetmax/FDS throttle in January. I might just forgo the MIP and instead go for 2x 1080p projectors (doubles great for movies, and other software). Have you seen this -- Soarbywire - Avionics Engineering
December 12, 201213 yr Ni Nolatron, how did you manage to get all the panels to display and the cockpit in full screen mode? Usually this is only possible in Window mode. When I go fullscreen mode, my secondary monitors black out but I can still drag panels over to them. Just click on the MIP displays to pop them as a panel and drag it over to the other display. Should work. I'll do a quick video tonight of what I do. Shaun OrtolanoTronAviation.com
December 14, 201213 yr Here's a quick look at how my Displays work with the extra monitors. https://vimeo.com/55571288 I forgot to undock the FMC so it didn't to the upper display like I was expecting but it does. That'll eventually be turned into a small 5" monitor for a FMC kit that arrived today. And here's that Panel Store app: http://janvaane.org/virtualfsx/archives/34 Shaun OrtolanoTronAviation.com
December 14, 201213 yr If you truly want to see what a cockpit builders suite consists of try the Prosim737 Suite, it offers a demo. Cockpit builders are a even smaller niche.

I doubt the good guys at PMDG will make one though as the market isn't there (I would think). However, I would happily pay good money for it!! Ed Haslam
December 14, 201213 yr Hi Shaun, I downloaded that app for the panel positions and it works great! Thanks for the tip! Chris Verner Home cockpit builder ...well trying anyway

I've seen the app but never got around to playing with it. Maybe I'll try that this weekend to see what it can do. Shaun OrtolanoTronAviation.com
