Hey Guys

Is this still required in FSX?

The reason i ask is that since my reinstall of FSX some months ago i have not had it in my FSX file and have had no menu crash or black screens etc. I used to use it and realise it is essential (or was) for reliable running of FSX. Anyone heard recent news on its use?

Kind Regards

Simon.

Each computer system probably varies in its frequency of crashes. There are currently too many factors surrounding one's FSX installation to determine whether one would need to use the fix. I would still use it just to be safe, but if you are not experiencing any crashes or errors, you technically do not need to use it. It probably does no harm to add it into the main FSX folder, anyway.

Yes, i agree. I have included it just recently just in case. Strange how i used to get crash etc prior to reinstall before i added AutomationCore.dll it. but it seems not after reinstall. Hmmm, the sometimes strange world of FSX. I thought it was something that all FSX users experienced and was a compulsary addition but maybe not then.

Thanks for reply.

Kind Regards

Simon.

From what i know, it's 100% required if you use windows 7. And you should use windows 7 :)

Maybe you didn't use fsx menu enough to get crashes.

But there is the too many instructions about uiautomationcore.dll, you need to download correct version and just to put it in main fsx folder. You can find the link for correct version(and instructions) here: http://#####...hardware-guide/

Yep, i use Win7 64.

Well, its possible i hav'nt used menu enough to experience any crash. Limited FSX use at the moment.

I've put back in the dll.version i was using from couple years back so i gather its correct. will check.

Thanks.

Running W7x64 English. Never used it, never needed it AFAIK. I run windowed if that makes a difference.

FSX does NOT require UIcoreAutomation.dll

If it is not on your system FSX still looks for it and wants to load it , but if it does not find it, it continues quite happily without it.

However, if Windows 7 has the dll, in a location where FSX can find it, it will load it, and the version that comes with Windows7 will cause eventual CRASH of FSX.

For Windows 7, the most accepted work around, is to put a copy from Vista 32 bit , in FSX's root directory, and FSX will look there first and use it, instead of looking in the system directories for the W7 version.

Windows 8 ... No personal experience, so will not comment.

I've run FSX under Win7 on three different PCs and have never had a crash due to uiautomationcore.dll. A search shows that I have four (differing) versions within C:\Windows as installed.
